nasa1974's Account Talk

As usual I have been keeping an eye on the FRTIB website.

Today they posted the December meeting minutes or I should say the non-meeting meeting minutes. If everyone remembers that the end of December Washing DC got clobbered with a big snow storm. Here is the link explaining why there was no meeting for December. http://www.frtib.gov/pdf/minutes/2009Dec.pdf

What is also interesting but nor unusual is that the November meeting minutes have not posted yet. I can't believe that it always takes more than a month to post the meeting minutes.

Enjoy!!!

I just can't make up my mind. I want to move the 30% out of the G fund but can't decide if I want to put the 30% into I (conflicting reports about the dollar has me hesitating) or go 40% C and 60% S.

DANG!!!

Well the sellers have shown up so far for today. Folks taking profit. Let's hope the buyers show up this afternoon. Both the C & S at a minus 1.06% and 1.46% respectively.

NASA...your cracking me up!! A friend and I watch our accounts and we usually discuss our strategy every morning...and what we both are thinking...we do the same thing......"Do we go here, or here, or here"
I love the phrase.."Swing for the fences" but more times then not I'm Mr. Chicken Little!!! I know everyone,,,I'm a wimp when it comes to my money!!! GL NASA and Everyone!!
Thanks for laugh!!

Blindman Out!!

Just had the chance to review the new beta website. Not bad. Fairly easy to navigate. In the survey I did mention that an extra IFT or 2 would be nice. That and the fact that administrative costs didn't go down like thay said it would.

Going to be a real interesting day for the market. Looks like the market is reacting to every piece of good or bad news today (I know not much different than any other day). Sure hope the day ends with good news.

GL everyone.

We have some new folks on board that might be able to help on this one. A report from CNNMoney.com talks about some of the largest banks showing a large 4th quarter loss. Here is the link to the article http://money.cnn.com/2010/01/14/news/companies/banks_quarter/index.htm
Two questions: 1) When are the reports due out? and 2) How will the market react to this information? I have noticed that the market doesn't always react the way one would think. If the market is expected to take a big drop with this information it would be nice to be sitting on the sidelines for this one. Just thinking out load so to speak. Looking forward to any thoughts on this.

I don't know when they will report, but it will show up here!!!

I posted most of this on Uptrend's account. Something to think about.

Went back and looked at the day after a holiday for 2009. Not good odds. More negative days than good after a holiday and large numbers to boot. Last year the day after the MLK holiday the C lost $0.52, the S lost $0.76 and the I lost $0.86 per share. A lot of members seem nervous about the market and hedging towards a drop off sooner than later. Fortunately I still have both my IFT's so I think I am going to jump to G tomorrow.

nasa - is this really a good day to sell? It is a hard decision for me to take a loss now, I'm not yet at my `stop' - but I really don't want to get to my stop! The fear of losing even that much, or worse yet, more, after MLK Day - has me forgetting to sip my coffee & it's getting cold on me....
Are you waiting until the `last minute'?:D
(no comment on the `sticky pants' thing -!!!)

You aren't on line, so I guess I'll find out after the fact !
Having both IFT's available makes a difference, in how we choose, doesn't it? - the only reason I haven't jumped already & it has paid me to hang in, so far. Strange, tho, how as my `take in' amount increases, my placement on the tracker lowers !! ...getting me ready for a lowering of the boom, no doubt!

edit : well - the other systems are `buy' so guess I'll take that as comfort...don't have anything in the cabinet - just reheat my coffee, I guess...

Well I used my 1st IFT. But I didn't do what I have been claiming I would do. :embarrest: COB I will be 30% C, 40% S and 30% I. Going against everything that feels right. :worried: The red on the board is too deep to sell and I saw an opportunity to get back into the I fund. :suspicious: There is a disturbance in the Force and I refuse to go to the Dark Side.

Good Luck Nasa. Could be a great play. :)

Well yesterday took a chunk out the profit margin. Still ahead for the month. Yesterday's loss was no worse than the losses from earlier in the week and I recovered from that, up to yesterday. I was hoping that yesterday would have been an up day because I wanted to pull back to G. Just feels like the banks reporting 4th quarter profit/loss is going to drag down the market. Went against wisdom and moved 30% into I and kept my numbers in the C and S funds. What the heck it is only money. :D I will be on and off all weekend. Have a great holiday everybody.

Hope that everyone that had the day off enjoyed it. For those that couldn't have the day off because of their job or postion I hope it was uneventful.

Talk about a fickle market. Of course it jumped positive early and oscillated a little bit and then ran for the finish line. Let’s hope that this short week does not give us too many peaks and valleys. At least for today I feel better that I went against wisdom and didn't jump into the G fund on Friday.
