nasa1974's Account Talk

As a public service announcement post 4009 shows the February returns and post 4010 shows the Yearly returns from 1988 through 2017.

NASA just authorized a "Voluntary Separation Incentive (Buyout) and Early-Out Authority" starting January 29th through February 16th. With separation effective March 3rd. I wonder how that will work if we are in another shutdown starting February 9th?

Congrats NASA, you are going to loooooove retirement!!! As for your question it depends on whether or not those folks processing your separation paperwork are considered essential.:D

For us in late 2015 when were were under CRA, they couldn't approve any VSIP because it is considered a "new start" that wasn't authorized. They could pay our salaries but couldn't approve any VSIP until budget was passed. Definitely not logical by any means

RF, Looking forward to my second retirement.

I retired in 2012 after 42 years of government service including my Air Force time. Failed retirement in 2014 when I was asked to come back as a contractor working as a construction manager at NASA Glenn Research Center. I was enjoying my first retirement and will really enjoy my second retirement because of the grandkids.

I am VERY jealous!
Any chance your NASA buddies can get the DOD onboard with a VSIP?!?
Are you getting the $40K, or still the $25K?

Re: some random thoughts

Just took a leap of faith and used my first IFT for the month, the year and since June of 2017. Just went from 100% "S" to 40% "C" 30% "S" and 30% "I".

Good luck everyone.

Don't forget to post your changes to AutoTracker...:D

Hopefully moving 40,30,30 CSI yesterday will soften the blow. Today is going to hurt.

Sticky pants on but I may need a new pair after yesterday and today. :banghead:

To feel better go look at your balances on Jan 1st and realize you still have the lions share.

Well said kb9nvh! Any other month I would be ecstatic about a gain of 2.89%, but given that just last Friday I was at 4.72% it's a bitter piece of humble pie.

Well making a move yesterday to go 40,30,30 CSI got me out of the middle of the "S" fund in the AutoTracker. I took a 0.91% hit instead of a 0.97%. Every little bit counts I guess.

My position in the AutoTracker is 450 the "S" fund is 455 and if I had stayed 100% "S" fund my position would have been 524. I'm moving up in the world.
