Re: nasa1974 account talk

Today wasn't pretty. OUCH!!!!

Any way just a note. My computer at home is acting up and currently I am in "safe mode". So it makes it difficult to really do anything. I had a few days to use or lose before retiring so I have been getting a lot of stuff done around the house and haven't had a chance to figure out my computer problem. Hopefully I can figure out what is going on with my computer so I can get back to normal. The computer, not me, I am beyond repair. :D The nice thing about "safe mode" I don't need my reading glasses to see the screen. If this takes me awhile to fix my daughter said I could borrow her laptop. Kids are great aren't they.

Later all.

Re: nasa1974 account talk

Fingers crossed. My computer has been running normal for 20 minutes now. Found some malware (rootkit.boot.pihar.c) buried in the C drive. It would start-up and run for about 7-8 minutes and then reboot. Repeat cycle. Good to be back.

Re: nasa1974 account talk

Congrats on your upcoming retirement!!! You will love it. I still am in interim pay status, retired 12/31/2011. An associate of mine who retired at at the same time spoke with someone at OPM yesterday. They advised her that she will be in interim status until July!!! SO much for OPM becoming more efficient!!! What a joke!

Thanks A2Z. My HR folks are telling me that I should see around 80-90% of what my retirement pay should be. I hope it doesn't take 6-7 months though. I hope your interim status changes sooner than later. Good luck.

Nasa........ I just received my first interim pay, it was very low. I ran the numbers and can't figure out how OPM came up with it. It was no where near 60% of my 22 years service of my high 3. I e-mailed them thinking I might get a better response than phoning... Just an FYI for you. Not that we can do anything about it. The old cliche, it is what it is... Maybe you will have better luck !!

Re: nasa1974 account talk

Well, yesterday got me out of negative territory for the month. If Monday can give me a +.75% I will back to my YTD high. Not sure what I want to do to start off May??????

Re: nasa1974 account talk

I am going to attach the May returns again. A few members are trying to figure out what to do. I am not sure what I am going to do. But since 2001 May has finished on the positive side 7 times and negative 4. In that 11 year span only once has May been negative 2 years in a row and that was 2010 and 2011. I guess if I were a betting man my money would be on a positive May for 2012. Good luck everybody.

Re: nasa1974 account talk

Attached is what May has done since 1996. The numbers came from Govexec.com, monthly returns. Hope it helps.

Thanks, NASA! I think what this is saying is even though May has gone down both of the last 2 years, you still have to trust the charts to guide you through this May, and any month! Even though May was down the last 2 years, this is not 'normal' for May.

Anyway, it helps me be a little more sure of staying in the market. (But I still do remember the last 2 May's!! :notrust: )

Dropped all the way to page 3. Trying to restrict my computer time for right now since I have a nice long list of things to do, since retiring on the 3rd.. I took 2 weeks off from my part time job at Best Buy so once I start up there again I should be able to spend a little more time on the computer. ;)

Re: nasa1974 account talk

Saw your question on another thread...my interim pay is at app 85%. Currently 41/2 months in interim pay status. OPM advised a coworker that those of us who retired 12/31/2012... we will have our retirement pay resolved in app 7 months.
