conditional loan guarantees.

Second paragraph " It is unclear how much of the guarantee, if any, was actually awarded."

Hmmm... Kind of like John Corzine... We just don't know where all that money went...

Oh well. A billion here. A billion there. Move along. Nothing to see here.

No, not at all like Corzine. It means they may have never actually given the project any money, much less 2.1 billion, because the "conditions" of the guarantee were not met. It means the author is writing headlines the facts can't justify. It means he doesn't expect anyone to critically read the article. Lots of projects/contracts never live up to expectations, that's why there are conditions. If your home remodeler doesn't meet your criteria you fire him, especially if he fails before you pay him a dime. If you are his primary contract he likely goes bankrupt.

But hey if were going to complain about money for energy projects lets not forget 250 bil to the highly profitable oil industry because, well, they fund campaigns.

Yes, everything is just a little bit "shady" on where the money went. Nothing to worry about, I'm sure. *wink wink*

Well, we don't have to worry about not sticking it to the oil industry. The Keystone pipeline project was stopped dead in it's tracks. Never mind that the price of gas is $4.25 a gallon where I live, and near $4 a gallon nationwide, on average.

Seems like the current administration might want to do something about that, if they want to ensure they remain in power. Let's watch them wiggle themselves out of this one. Should be interesting...

Let's get back on task...

Headline: The Beginning of The End

When this runaway move comes to an end, I'm pretty sure it will signal the beginning of the end for this cyclical bull market. That doesn't mean that we won't see a test or even a marginal break to new highs, but I think we are clearly in the final phase of this liquidity driven rally that began in March of 2009.

We are now at the mercy of oil and the commodity markets. Bernanke's plan to print our way to prosperity is destined to failure. Ultimately he is just going to spike inflation and collapse the global economy, resulting in a worse downturn than what we saw in 2008/09. Whether that breaking point is at $120 oil or $160 oil is anyone's guess....

And now, my impersonation of Birchtree...Go ahead Chicken Little, jump in front of this charging bull! I'll pick up more wall flowers as I pass by you! Snort!

Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitress.

Nice impersonation. Heh. Keeping my eye's on the exits as this runaway bull stumbles forward.

If the waitress is sincerely nice, she'll always get an extra tip.

This one if for all you bulls out there. You know who you are....

Market Could Rally 40% This Year As Money Migrates From Bonds

It seems the old adage, ''be careful what you wish for" might be timely advice for the stock market right now, since the best first quarter since 1998 - with nary a dip to buy - and a 30% pop in 6 months, has left many a money manager begging for a sell off.

However, Ed Dempsey, founder and chief investment officer of Pension Partners, is not one of them. In fact, he thinks the climate is right for this mini-bull to tack on another 30% this year....

I agree with this article completely. Absolutely. 110%.

If you don't do this, you'll never make a lot of money. Ever.

10 Secrets to Being a Millionaire and Enjoying It

"Yes, opportunity is knocking for American investors. Less than two weeks ago Spectrem Group of Chicago released its latest annual report of American millionaires. About 200,000 new millionaires were added last year, for a new total of 8.6 million.

True, that’s less than the 9.5 million at the 2006 peak, but it’s still great news along with the Dow industrial’s 994 point first-quarter rally of 8.1% first quarter ending last Friday, two clearly positive signs of a recovery.

In short, you can still become a millionaire. Here’s the secret: It’s all in your head, your attitude, your state of mind. If you want to retire a millionaire, you can. Here’s how: You control your mind...."

This is a long article, but very important, and well worth the read:

The NSA is Building the Country's Biggest Spy Center (Watch What You Say)

"... the NSA has turned its surveillance apparatus on the US and its citizens. It has established listening posts throughout the nation to collect and sift through billions of email messages and phone calls, whether they originate within the country or overseas. It has created a supercomputer of almost unimaginable speed to look for patterns and unscramble codes. Finally, the agency has begun building a place to store all the trillions of words and thoughts and whispers captured in its electronic net. And, of course, it’s all being done in secret. To those on the inside, the old adage that NSA stands for Never Say Anything applies more than ever...."

Building it right here in Utah...because Utah politicians hate gov't money.

Ok, we're 3 hrs away from the market close, and the Dow is still down ~ 150 points. Nasdaq is down even more, percent wise.

Is this the dip that everyone's been waiting for? If you're in the G Fund, are you going in?

And if you're in stocks, are you headed to the sidelines?

I'm holding to my C Fund position at this time. Since it's too early to tell if this is the beginning of a serious sell-off, it's simply a wait-and-see approach for now.

I agree, (due to the IFT limits) if your in stay in, if your out stay out, so long as we stay range bound that's a good choice.

I am only 20% in the S fund just waiting for a "sign." Most likely tomorrow I will be going to the S fund 100%. Friday's forecast on unemployment/nonfarm payroll jobs data is what I am banking on.

Interesting that you're banking on payroll data as the "sign" to time your move. What are you expecting, compared to the consensus estimates? Will you still move 100% into S if the market drops 250 points (or more) tomorrow? What if just the opposite occurs? Just curious, imike.
