Thoughts on Stock Splits - Seeking Alpha

"...This brings me to my conclusion: stock splits are a momentum effect, but it is larger when companies have a cheap valuation. Perhaps splits have no effect on stock performance — it is all momentum and valuation. To me, that is the most likely conclusion, and my thesis anticipated quantitative money management by 10+ years.... But anyway, I find it amusing that some are still trying to use stock splits to try to make money..."

S Fund looking especially weak this morning. All the indicators (moving avgs, PPO, RSI, Stoch) are pointing south, so I exited to the G Fund for the remainder of the month. Gonna let this market settle into a final bottom before heading back in. System sold TNA at 82.38, and bought TZA at 14.95.

Rough week for the metals market. Gold is sitting on the edge of the ledge. If it jumps off, watch out metals and miners, because it's gonna pull you all down.

Friday saw a slight rebound as it kept the 2014 trendline intact, but momentum is to the downside. I hope the trendline holds, but I think we're going down next week.

Gold, Silver and Miners down big today. Looks like we're going to test the bottom again, or at least hit some lower Fibonacci levels. Hang on tight, this is gonna be a rough flight.

On a side note, yesterday was the first time GOOG closed below it's 50 day SMA since Oct. Perhaps a sign of things to come? Yes, I think it's rolling over.

JR
do you think this is the bottom for GOOG? i hope so.

IMHO it looks like GOOG is just beginning to roll over. Perhaps it'll be a shallow pullback. Never mind that huge open gap at 900 that's never been filled. That's a -22% drop from here.

In general, many many stocks are getting crushed. Usually money flows away from equities at times like these and heads to better (or safer) returns... like bonds or metals. Bonds are doing well, but metals are also getting killed, so there aren't too many places to hide. Big names like FB, GOOG, NFLX, MU, & TSLA are bleeding heavily. At this point, it doesn't look like there is any support yet, so I'm expecting selling to continue for a while longer. Once we see prices stabilize, perhaps in the next few days, then it might be time to step in and snap up some bargains. Until then, I'm tucking my wings in, and letting the storm pass.

Thanks bro. I should also add that in addition to the big names, the small caps are getting crushed. TZA skyrocketed +5.62% today, and is short term over-extended IHMO. S Fund proxy $EMW is now under 1,000. I expect tomorrow morning we'll have a relief rally in the markets, but don't let it fool you. Momentum should continue downwards for a few days longer. The market leaders (Transports and Nasdaq) are looking very weak. If the leaders are weak, expect the rest of the markets to follow suit.

That's the greatest part of all, it the S&P 500 doesn't look as bad as the other major indexes, some folks are getting lulled into a false sense of security.

GLD keeps dropping dropping, day after day (since Mar 14). Possible support at the 122 area. Keep your eye on gold. When it stabilizes, that may be the key to a market rebound.

" ... With exploding sovereign debt levels, the ballooning FED balance sheet, increasing consolidation of the banking industry, the ticking time bomb of toxic derivatives still in existence, growing distrust of governments, growing geopolitical tensions, increasing chances of Russia and China dumping U.S. debt/dollars as economic warfare, end of the petrodollar world reserve in sight and rise of alternative monetary systems, it is difficult to imagine gold and silver prices remaining at the currently depressed levels for long.

While I can’t predict exactly when the upward revision to gold and silver prices will take place, I believe we are witnessing the last great buying opportunity in precious metals. Whether prices rocket higher this year or next year, I believe those that were willing to buy when gold was out of favor will be handsomely rewarded. It is the most difficult time to buy when everyone around you is bearish and fearful. But these are exactly the moments when the most successful investors are able to seize the opportunity and buy when everyone else is selling...."

Americans' brains being fried by cell towers: New scientific evidence reveals shocking extent of electropollution damage

This should not come as a surprise to those that aren't ignorant. I got myself a wideband RF meter a while back and rectified the electro pollution throughout our home. The improvements in overall health, well being, concentration, and even trading ability have been remarkable. No more wi-fi, no nearby cell towers, cell phone use kept to a minimum and only through a tube headset, and most importanly no phones or other electronic devices in our bedroom. The effects of non-ionizing (cell phone radiation) are most destructive at night when our parasympathetic nervous system is most vulnerable. Obviously a healthy diet and proper detoxification aids in counteracting the effects of today's electro-pollution.

The European governments have been ahead of the curve in regulating these issues. Obviously, this won't get fixed in the U.S. until we have an epidemic of chronic diseases and lawsuits, which is well underway. Just look at the skyrocketing rates of autism and other learning disabilities in the U.S.

I gotta be honest. I'm skeptical of naturopathic remedies. I have a sister in law that is an N.D. And she sounds good but that's about it. She charges lots of money for what I consider just the placebo effect. Which is very powerful IMO.
I'm not saying emf is not a problem but not at the power levels or frequencies that can damage cell. X-rays and up sure. Digital cell phones no.

Radiation in it's self has to be at a tremendous level to do any harm. Many people confuse Radiation with radioactive contamination. Consuming or breathing radioactive particles is the bad one, look it up! I use to be an industrial Radiographer and worked in reactor compartments on nuclear submarines, I know.

Some people say it will harm you, others say it won't. I lean towards the "why take chances" camp. I'm probably not going to go to great extents to put up a shield around my bed at night, but I might be more cognizant of placing my phone farther away from me or turning it completely off. Certainly food for thought.
