MrJohnRoss' Account Talk

Well John, I bailed on SGMS today @ 16.10 for a 23% gain. I set a stop today in the morning and said what happens, happens...and well...it happened. :)

With the Dow up 181, is the mini "correction" over? Possibly, but IMHO, it still appears that market momentum is to the downside. Yes we had a powerful up-move today, but one day does not make a trend. The short term averages, PPO, RSI and Stoch are all pointing lower, so I'm gonna stay in the G Fund for now. TZA is still a hold, even though it was down -1.43%. Lots of volatility with events occurring all over the globe, so you never know what tomorrow is gonna bring. Me and MaStA are neck and neck in the Autotracker race, trying to break into the top 50, but we're currently riding different horses. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Heh heh. :D

Short term you may be right. I’m staying in for the long haul. The truth is where are people going to put there money? Banks, CD’s, real-estate? They might run away for a week or more but they will be back at the stock market buying. Nothing is going to be a better long term investment then the stock market so I’ll keep buying.
Real-estate might come close but after you include maintenance, taxes, and changes in laws. I think the stock market is a better plan. I do own two rental properties and plan to keep them but most of my money is on the stock market.

markmars,

It may be a bumpy year but I'm in it for life, so I'll ride. In the last two years my oceanic has taken down +$2,251,000.00 - and I'm anticipating even more gains. People are saying because 2013 was so strong, the best in 16 years, that 2014 will be just average. But another 32% gain wouldn't surprise me and I'll be right there to get mine.

JR thats what i wanted to see:D you had me skeered for a minute. i follow the moves of certain members (you being 1 of them), altho you all don't make the same moves i take them all into account when making my decision to make a move. guchi stop lying, you know your a buy and holder. but i still look at you all to decide even that to stay in or really really get out. good luck to all.

...aaaaand back in we go!

JR, I understand you sold DUST on 3/14 for -17.2% and bought GDXJ for $44.94. Is that right, or did I miss a post? Today you're going in, meaning you've dumped TZA and SQQQ?

Inquiring minds want to know John, was this just a change of heart or a data/TA-based trade?

Pretty much every move is based on chart analysis, although there is some discretion for "spidey sense" as some would call it. I try to keep my emotions out of it tho.

John got scared that I was going to pass him haha. ;)

SGMS is up again...I'm good at selling early, but I guess a gain is better than a loss no matter how you look at it!

Yessir. GDXJ was a buy at $44.84. Current prices are even better.

Sold TZA at 14.80 and SQQQ at 51.11. I consider them "insurance" holdings in case of a larger market correction. Since the market got new legs, I no longer feel the need for insurance.

Thx Guchi. I think it'll be a while until you need to really really get out.

We're like a couple of races horses going neck and neck to the first quarter finish line. You may pass me today. Drat!

SGMS may find short term resistance at the 61.8% Fibonacci level, which is around 16.77. We may back and fill in that area before we break out higher. At least that's what my crystal ball is saying. Heh.
