MrJohnRoss' Account Talk

Sold off a bunch of my stocks today, as they started curling over to the downside. It's looking more and more likely that we're at or near a short term top here. I may move to the sidelines next week.

System results: System hangs on to NUGT, but just barely, with a loss of -6.75% today. We also hang on to URTY, (just barely) with a slight loss of -0.24%.

Picked up some SQQQ in case we open sharply lower on Monday.

Interesting perspective. I respect Shadowstats opinions, but the odds of the dollar crashing due to Russia playing financial warfare are low IMHO. Could we be on the brink of another recession? Very possibly. I don't believe the economy is in great shape, and is being propped up with the morphine drip of QE infinity. If consumer spending continues to contract, it could very well spell trouble.

Now you're sounding more like RMI. The GDP is going to come out around 3% yearly for the next decade - just enough to keep the bulls rampaging. I see from the news that individual wealth is at a record - but only for those in the stock market. A funny thing happened on the way to higher stock market prices - the small guy missed out. Now that's a darn shame. The spoils go to those that stand their ground.

I agree, but the funny thing about the rich getting richer... there's not enough of them to spend their $$$ in order to pull the country out of the doldrums. Most of 99%ers are either struggling to make ends meet, or are suckling on the teat of the "free handout Yobama society". Ah, but they'll be sure to vote appropriately next go around, so either way, we're screwed. What we need is a strong middle class with good paying jobs so that millions of consumers earn and spend and keep the economy thriving. Without millions of good paying jobs, there's no way this country can prosper.

Businesses will not hire until the travesty in the White House is gone. We need a Perry/Romney ticket for 2016 to get growth to becoime paramont. Until then our only hope is to bounce the Dems out of the Senate this year - and it will happen.

Not likely, but we can always pray...

So was one of your sells SGMS or are you still holding that for the longer term?

Thanks!

SGMS is a longer term hold. I think it has quite a way to go before it gets overheated. At this point it's still a low risk, high reward type of play.

Just a heads up... The next few days are gonna be crazy busy at work, so I prolly won't be able to post system moves until after hours. Someone's gotta make some high tech rocket motors for DOD, and I'm the lucky guy.

Chief Heisenberg, I'm putting you in charge of making sure the market doesn't tank tomorrow or Tues. I may not have time to perform an IFT until after the deadline on either day.

With little time to watch the markets today, I decided to take a defensive stance with the TSP account, and move to cash. Things looked pretty dicey early this morning, so I moved to G. Seems like we're right on the cusp of a sell signal, so I think my timing will be pretty good. My rough calculations say I got about a +7.7% return on this nice move in the S Fund from Feb 6th until today. Sure looks like this puppy is starting to roll over. RSI got up to ~70 and is heading lower, and the PPO and Stoch appear to be rolling over as well. The next couple of days will tell whether we get a pull back for a week or two, or we just keep blasting higher. I'm thinking pullback. It's due.

In other news, we have another system switch. System sells NUGT at 47.76. With a buy at 49.90, this move was a loss of -4.3%. There really has been no clear, strong direction, so the past few moves have chewed up performance. System buys DUST at 20.47. The technical indicators look like this might be the beginning of a strong wave higher for DUST, as the Stoch and PPO have dual crossovers. Keep your eyes on the metals markets!

System continues to hold URTY, although technically, you could consider a switch. It's that close. I'll wait one more day to confirm, but it sure looks like the move higher for URTY is about over.

Good luck!

Just getting a chance to post. Looks like my timing was almost perfect. S Fund is getting a clear sell signal. Glad I bailed yesterday.

System switched out of URTY early this morning, but since I'm just getting a chance to post, here's the current data: Sold URTY at 92.76, for a gain of +20.66% in a little over a month. Not a bad little pile of cash to rake up. System buys TZA at 15.30. I bought a nice chunk of TZA at this price. Let's see if this turns out to be a profitable cycle. My guess is we'll have a couple of weeks of softness in the markets, and then we'll be right back up again. At least that's how it's gone for the past several years, so until it changes, it's likely to stay the same.

Good luck!

I see TZA gets a gap fill @ 15.65 I'll be curious to see what happens once/if it gets filled.

Dual crossovers for the PPO and Stoch suggest this *may* be a powerful move, especially as deep as the PPO has gotten. The 50 day SMA may be the first target, currently at 16.97 and falling.
