Mexican Border

Just want to add that the National Guard is also helping secure our border. All 54 States and Territories are providing Guardsmen to support this operation. We currently have a company (-) in New Mexico and a 26 man team is heading to Arizona in a about a week. Imagine that from a territory that is almost 10k miles away;-)
National Guard has its strengths and weaknesses like other components of our service, however, it has now become an integral force within the Army and the only component that has the ability to conduct dual missions to support federal and state requirement.
Hehehe... Does it seem like i'm trying to sell the Guard here? Just in case any of you would like to join...

I will be finishing 6 years with the guard in november....and though i loved my time i'm glad it's over. Mucho respect for any branch of military.

The border problem has no solution. Illegal aliens need and want jobs, any job and America businesses need and want cheap labor. Back in 1986 during the amnesty period. We started see, new amnesty resident aliens smuggling more aliens and naroctic loads becaused they needed work. Since they were legal, the businesses would not hire them becaused they had to pay them a decent wage and they would incur other cost like worker insurance, health and etc.

Bottom line, do not do business with anyone who hire illegal aliens, (restauarants, hotels, landscaping, etc) and they will get the message. Please forgive the grammer and spelling.

Here is an example of why we need and appreciate our immigrants whether legal or illegal. I have a friend that is a pharmacist and he contracted to have some inhome construction work done. On the day the job was to be tackled two bubbas showed up an hour late and spent most of the day smoking cigarettes and basically moving slowly to turn the job into a several day project - they even left the day early. My friend called and suggested they need not return. He recontracted with another outfit. On the day the job was scheduled four Mexicans showed up an hour early and stayed an hour later until the job was completed - no fooling around. He was so impressed he gave them each an extra $10 to get some take home for their families. Now what is wrong with this picture?

There is almost nothing wrong with it, but, were the workers legal or not. The problem is not that they do not come to work, they do work hard and long, but that no one knows who they are. Remember Saturnino Resendes, the guy that travel by railroad and kill several persons some near Houston, Tx. A country needs to know who in the country and why he is here, for the welfare of it's citizens and the state. Just a thought.

Birchtree,

I am surprised to hear you talk of the American worker in such unenthusiastic terms. Based on what you have indicated about your stock holdings, your gains which came from the efforts of American productivity appear to be substantial. So I think you have the American worker to thank for that. A generalization based on a single incidence is flawed; work ethic crosses all cultures and nations.

I can say that I have worked with Hispanic Americans who worked circles around me, (that may not be hard to do :D but I was impressed) but they were Americans. Illegals work for a lower wage and unacceptable conditions which erodes our American culture and they are law breakers, not some poor sap trying to make a living. Mexico is broken and the solution to the problem is not to sent their people here.

BT, OC,
When an illegal gets injured or killed on the job. What happens? unbeliveable!

If you look around my community there are two groups involved in environmental work programs. One group represents the immigrant who comes from a culture that rewards hard work and is family oriented. The other group are young men wearing blue uniforms with a white stripe down the pants leg - they are where they are because they are victims of illegitimacy. The easy way is to take the government dole of welfare and support your family with illegitimacy. Now our inmates want the right to vote to try and keep the Donkey in power. What's the answer to this dilemma?

Legal immigrants who come to our country are generally welcomed with open arms. The vast majority of Americans fall into this category. Look at the new Governor of Louisiana, hard work and family values do have a place in our society today.

Cons working in chain-gangs made their choices and are paying the price; they have lost rights because of their crimes. Loss of their right to vote seems appropriate; they make poor decisions and should not be afforded the ability to elect our representatives.

Here are some interesting stats on our prison population:
