Ron,

Prior to 1998 August was always know as a difficult month - since 2002 that has changed. I suspect by the time the mainstream media is finished over the weekend celebrating the gains made in the July stealth market - everyone will be headed into stocks especially where bonds will be reacting to the increase in rates. The possibility presents itself where the month of August could be explosive to the upside - triple digit type gains back to back. The Dow Theory patrons are looking for reconfirmation - I'm in that camp - reconfirming a primary buy signal. Once that happens we are in new territory - how far and for how long. Stay tuned - keep your money in the stock funds.

Thanks Birch, I did not plan on making any drastic moves, though today was rather disappointing, will ride it out as always.

shoulda bot more today...darn it!:X

not near a pc 2day...and my pos handheld does not have encryption...can see what's going on and not able to do a damn thing about it:P

here's an article off rb....

The Chinese reevaluation of the Yuan will have an effect more than just possible increasing the cost of sneakers and underwear at Walmart.

Since the Yuan will be pegged to a basket of currencies, no longer just to the Dollar, China and other countries that are unlatching their currencies, will have to sell Dollars
and buy the currencies that make up their "baskets".

What it means is that fewer national currencies, previously tied to the Dollar, will be used to buy the dollars that has thus far kept our ship from sinking in the sea of debt.

We must also remember that though China's GDP has been reletively high, there are many problems that they face. Their banks have made bad loans, their cities are hard pressed to absorb the influx of those seeking employment and manufacturers will feel the pinch of lower profits. Walmart may raise prices, but the Chinese manufacturers will share some of the pain by reducing their export prices.

Interesting.

Hi, I finally worked out the glitches and can post. I have only been watching and reading comments on this site for a few months. I really obtain a lot if insight into the market that I never was able to figure out.

That being said, I am with I think Teckno (forgive me if I didn't get that right), no need to run to the barn and bury yourself in the G.

I have only moved once to the G this year and it was a mistake. So, I went back to my method (no science, just gut instinct) and I have been rewarded with not a great return but more than if I was sitting in G fundt. I guess what I want to know, is why are people so negative on the market?

Just someone new to the board. Everyone have a great weekend.
welcome Ron!

good to see a new poster here....most folks here tradeto the point where they buy support andsell resistance. or at least try 2 do so in ideal conditions.:P

with this darn thing grinding up the way it is..most now find themselves out of stox and waiting for an entry point. overall most foks here are upbeat on the markets with the exception of two or three who need to have a negative-ectomybefore they have a grandmal seizure!

*grandmal seizure — also known as a tonic-clonic seizure — is a common type of seizure, characterized by loss of consciousness, falling down, loss of bowel or bladder control, and rhythmic convulsions. Seizures result from an abnormal electrical discharge in the brain. Other types of seizures include petit mal seizure and temporal lobe seizure.:s

I discovered this for myself years ago.

"– My trend following trading system is the result of years of mistakes. I
always seemed to be zigging when I should be zagging. My investing was based too much on emotion and inputs
from so many varied newsletters and methods. After what has been literally years of personal research into cycles,
Elliott Waves, artificial intelligence and many other systems, I have learned that my own trading style is best
handled by avoiding the “art” of prediction at all costs!!! When I looked at moving averages for indication of
trend direction, it seemed that they too were always 180 degrees out of phase with what I should have done. My
conclusion, after many losses and much frustration, is that I needed to keep it very simple and let the market tell me
what it wanted to do. In particular, I wanted to follow the trend, which is your friend, until the market whispered,
or shouted to me that it wanted to change directions. And then, I found that Stochastics and Rate of Change
indicators help me go to cash until the trend reverses or continues."
