Market Talk / Dec. 10 - 16

Sit tight and be right
The CPI may be a negative value because of oil prices and decreased rent costs. The SPX more often than not closes on the positive for an expiration week.

Anyone have any idea what the CPI is going to look like Friday?

It is forecast and expected to be up 0.2%. In the prior period it was -0.5%.
I don’t have a clue…

Friday should be wild with three significant economic reports out CPI which rates an A- in importance, Capacity Utilization B- and Industrial Production B-. CPI includes food and energy prices. So, last month what was crude doing? The oil index was down……

Birchtree may have it right!

Add to that triple witching and we have an exciting mixture.

If you're in stocks... and a B.A.H'er... don't move. Triple witching has no effect on you're style of investment. If you're a fund jumper & hopper... it's your personal call; no risk, no reward. MHO :) .

triple witching on Friday... any advice on how to play if you're already 100% in the stock funds?

The major indices (Dow, Nas, and Spx) have been bumping up against resistance and are closing on a sideways note. However, they are all above the 20 day EMA, which appears to be holding them up. Moreover, today all closed after making higher lows and higher highs than yesterday, with what appears to be on lower volume. This could be signaling a marking of time before moving up through expiration day (Friday)? Any other ideas?

CopterDoc,

Do you know if the 45th Dustoff is still around?

Birch:

45th is now called 45th medical company, air ambulance. Part of the 421st Medical Battalion. It still shows it's active, although the only thing I can find recent is an article from their 2004 deployment. Not sure where they are right now.

http://www.defendamerica.mil/articles/Dec2004/a122004tj1.html

They could be part of one of the brigade transformations going on stateside now, or could still be in europe. If I find them I'll post.
