Mapper's Account Talk

And dooowwwwnnnnnn she goes.

Don't know about Birch but heavily considered buying Cisco back in spring. Haven't looked at it since then.

ETF
Sold my short term TZA @ 49.46. I more than exceeded my goal for this move and with a 16% run on this one short move I didn't want to get too greedy. Still didn't break even on my long-term position but I did sell some of it off. So I'm left holding just a small chunk of TZA which will help if the slide continues. I'd like to sell it soon because I don't think we'll keep going down much lower. Alas, I'm still swimming upstream since mid summer.
Of course I also still (foolishly) hold a long term TNA position acquired just before the July/August slide. Hoping I can get a cheap enough price on this move down to get that TNA back above water.

TSP
Continuing to hold my 25F 75G position and have and IFT left to burn in Sept. Looking for a good entry

:o

That was a BAD move! Damn, that was a bad move! I could have made 11% and eliminated ALL of my late July/early August red ink WHILE I WAS SLEEPING!

Ok, that's out of my system. Prudence did not pay off this time...but I have more dry powder and it is time to look forward. At least I'm still making progress on the, too small, chunk of TZA I did leave in the game. We just made a HUGE move down which will certainly result in some foolishness in the immediate future. Limited computer access today, Friday and Monday will make things a little tricky.

Given that situation I'm tempted to buy a sizeable chunk of TNA at these prices. That would dramatically reduce my cost basis on the long term TNA position I hold. Even if we go down a little further I believe the bleeding will stop soon and the reduced cost basis on TNA will be nice. I will however, see if we drop even further on the open.

Declining issues outpacing advancing issues 13:1. Just making a note here for future reference because that's not something you see every day.

In the time it took me to write this it jumped to 16.4:1

edit:17.8:1 TNA is getting cheap. cheap, cheap!!!

It's close to it's 52 week low, so I snagged some.

My favorite big players are starting to look cheap. I like

I like INTC, JCI, JNJ, GE at these levels. ABT is getting close too.

F has also had a big fall but no divy. I hold TTM as a play on the Indian/3rd world market moving to cars, I think I'll be buying more soon.

I ilke INTC and GE. I'm not familiar with the others. If I had some more money, I would snag some INTC. Tech is supposed to lead a comeback, according to a lot of analysts. GE is great but I am leaning toward the techs for now.

In case anyone is following :D I completely liquidated my long term TZA position @ 53.11 at an overall loss of 1.5% from late July. I'm alright with that because a) it's small and b) I can hold more focused positions going forward. We may go down further but I'm more concerned about going up and not seeing levels this low (TZA this high) for a while.

As a compliment I bought some TNA @ 35.39. Clearly I could have had a better price, but that's what I got. So I'm currently only playing the the bullish side. If we drop further I anticipate I'll buy even more TNA as I think we'll be making a good move up in the near future.

Edit: I forgot, I'm going into equities on my TSP 25C/75S

Good luck for you. IMHO I think you may be getting in at the half way down point, but we may get a dead cat bounce you can catch. Got my fingers crossed for you.:worried:

You may be right!
As far as ETFs are concerned I'm OK w/ getting in half way down, I still have powder dry for a bigger purchase at a lower price, if needed. TSP, well...I guess I'm just making a move w/ conviction...I can move out before the end of the month if I have to and repurchase in Oct. A guys gotta jump on somewhere!!
