Mapper's Account Talk

Bought a LITTLE more XOM. I'm making long term plans here and looking at purchases. This is risky, but again, making long term plans.

I've also got a load of TZA I've been sitting on for months and months...if we continue to fall that position will raise more money for me...and allow me to buy more later. This what I have been waiting for, for months and months of red ink on the TZA

Went to lunch and visited my mechanic at the wrong time. Missed a lot of my target buy prices during that midday dive. Well, there's always tomorrow.

Edit: Really I'm just joking. I need to practice patience, something I'm not great at.

AAPL prices starting to look more attractive. Should we be concerned about that?

What I should have been doing was buying. Too much talk. Oh well, I think there will be more opportunities for purchase.

Today I'm adding to my T position in my Roth. Disappointing earnings have me considering an addition to my KO position too.

TSP remains unchanged ~40% equities, ~40% cash, ~20% bonds. I'm pretty happy with those allocations while the new trend develops.

Doing some end-of-month dialing things back

Went 40G, 35F, 10C, 10S, 5I

I still think market character has changed and we may be in a bounce before resuming downside action. I've been wrong about this for too, too long already...but someday I'll be right!!

I don't know why I've been so bearish this past year and a half...but it's really hurting me. I keep thinking that as soon as I give in and plow everything into the markets...they'll tank. I must think too much.

You ain't alone brother.

Some divergence going on with the Transports up over 1% and everything else mostly treading water. Small Caps are looking pretty weak. I really like to look to transports and small caps and see them working together. The low oil prices are messing with me.

I will say this. There are a lot of things we've come to take for granted in the last 5 years since the market "bottom" in 2009. I see things that seem to be changing, suggesting the character of the markets is changing. This makes me wary. But, as I previously stated, maybe I think too much :toung:

Hello. As I mentioned in Bquat's thread, my status of late is...I've been coasting/ on autopilot for awhile. Between that, summer excitement and projects I haven't had much time to comment but still drop by once in awhile to see how things are going.

I've been concerned for some time, months now, about the drop in Transports and seeming flat-linning of the major indexes. I've been watching for "deals" in blue chip dividend stocks with an eye on the long term (20+ years to retirement for me) for my Roth and am finding more and more "deals" as time wears on. That, seemingly, means we are working off "overbought" conditions which I see as a good thing for the long term. As such I'm making some strategic purchases here and there. I find the price movements a bit more concerning for the short term. Keeping an eye out for any "rounding" in flatish patterns we've seen. Tom mentioned that in the commentary yesterday adding fuel to those thoughts. Only time will tell but I'm seeing some rocky roads ahead and hope I have the wherewithal to pounce and make strategic purchases with an eye on the long-term.

at the moment my TSP is fully invested in C and S.

Recent acquisitions are: EMR, MMM, CSCO, JNJ, TXN, and I added a few shares to my XOM position (barf). I'm likely about to pull the trigger on some CVS and PG, liking the pricing of late buy I'm keeping some cash available in case things continue floundering. I'm also holding a dang-blasted short ETF that I should have sold eons ago. I am, however, still unable to shake those bearish tendencies I've had for the last year and looking to it as a means of raising money for future purchases (I do wish I just had cash, not shorts though)

Take care all and enjoy what's left of summer. Been beautiful this year in Utah.
