I never head of anyone with so much tallent. You could use almost all of it here in Alaska.

I hope to gain more smarts with my TSP account.

Roll on!

Last year I almost took a job with the Geophysical Institute at UAF. Would have been a good move but I just couldn't get myself to jump to Fairbanks in Jan.

Definitely could have got some real big mt. ski mountaineering skills there. The wasatch is fairly user friendly range but there are still some great lines to be had. The other nice thing here is tourism, never a shortage of folks w/out any real mt. experience looking for a taste of the great outdoors.

So long as I keep getting out and staying active I can continue honing my skills and hopefully make a few bucks here and there doing what I love. Maps and geography is great and all but sitting at a computer all day is not really where I want to be. Just gotta keep building that nest egg while I'm here!!!

Thanks to everyone here for the help.

And here's to hoping we recover a bit today. Go Bulls!!!

Fairbanks in winter isn't the place to be. Too cold. I don't know why so many people love it there. But Anchorage is wonderfful, except this winter season we set a record with over 134 inches of snow, double our average for the season. The weather is nice now with 50 degree days. We visit Fairbanks and the North Pole in the summer time. They do serve great food up there.

I would like to see gains for both days left this week.

I doubt Frito Lay is the only major manufacturer going this way. I heard a similar story recently about FedEx. But they were actually talking more about alt fuels  if I remember correctly. Apparently Frito Lay expect Nat Gas to stay cheap for awhile.

"
“The payback for the extra cost of the natural gas trucks is a year and a half, so it’s a little bit of a no-brainer. We retire approximately 125 tractors a year, and we plan to replace as many of them as we can with natural gas.” He said it could take six to seven years to convert all of the company’s tractor-trailers."

All of this talk about Alaska is making me cold and it is supposed to be 80 in SC today.

Most of the stocks I want are too steep for me right now. Maybe when I work my way up. In the mean time, I'm very happy with my ANR and LNG purchases.

What I thought was going to be a nice run fizzled real quick. Oh well. I think next week the S&P will hit 1500! :D Go BULLS!!

If I remember correctly AAPL reports on the 24th and my guess is the markets aren't going anywhere until the positioning for that begins. Could be be a bit bumpy providing opportunities for those with the thickest skins. When I get a chance I'll have to research the guidance but I'm guessing it's a positive report. If AAPL pushes back to the recent high I imagine the markets will too.

Looks like we got our answer on AAPL, not overly surprising. Now the question is whether we can keep moving. Unfortunately I've had no time to look at the current status of anything. Nice weather and that pesky day job getting in the way.

I will say, I won't be surprised to drop again. Therefore I'll likely be looking to use this bounce as an exit ramp for some of my positions.

I wouldn't necessarily jump until the VIX punches the 14 level again. There is a lot of money to be made for the rest of the year.

Busy morning but managed to get a sell order placed for half my TNA position. Not exactly bailing but reducing my exposure a bit and freeing up some cash.

Still have a sizeable long position and planning, for today anyway, to stay invested in TSP 45C 45S 10I

Edit: my sale price on TNA was $57.48

A reminder - any trade you make outside of TSP is being tracked on a 1099B and will be sent to your friends at the IRS - you can't micturate now without them knoiwing about it.
