JTH's Account Talk

This market needs a pullback, would we rather lose our money on a 10-day down-wave or a 1-day plunge? Institutional sellers are slipping out the back door at the top, while Mom & Pop support prices. Rotation, what's old becomes new, what's been working stops working, tis the season for changes...

I agree. Just let me get 2-3% more first. :)

Across the 6-Month chart, we can see prices are compressing. The Bollinger Band width indicator is at a 40-day low, sooner or later prices need to unwind, at what speed & direction is yet to be determined.

I think you're really good with charts so please excuse me when I say "this sure is one ugly chart!" :D
Agreed on both accounts...

I know this is way too wonky and technical, but the one word that comes to my mind when I think about the S fund lately is "tired" :cheesy:. It's looking good at the open, but yesterday it broke my heart at the close, and we've got miles to go until 4pm. Looks like the I fund may have a bit more gas as we end the month.

More of the same.

Keep an eye on TZA (the inverse small cap ETF) if it breaks above 15.85 with volume conviction, then I'd expect the markets to breakdown. Until that time, IMHO the right thing within TSP is to hold the position you're in.

I love your charts, JTH. Is a bear ETF, like TZA, essentially a fund comprised of short positions? Thanks in advance!

It's a bit difficult to describe, it is the opposite of the TNA ETF. "Direxion Daily Small Cap Bear 3X Shares (the Fund), formerly Direxion Small Cap Bear 3X Shares, seeks daily investment results of 300% of the inverse (or opposite) of the price performance of the Russell 2000 Index (the Small Cap Index)."

It's done with some form of voodoo math...

...the S fund lately is "tired" :cheesy:.. .

I agree, the S fund has felt like a teenage prom date to me. At opening she says yes, at noon (when you lock in your suit rentals), everything is still fine, to dump you right before the dance (4 pm) for that foreigner (I-Fund).

TZA 15.85.................???????? You called it...........and then some. Should be interesting.

Is Obama saying something in Brussels the market doesn't like? Pretty sharp turn.

No Michele found out he paid a visit to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands while she's in China. the PM of the Netherlands is the one he was carrying in with at Nelson Mandella's memorial service...poor Barrack.
