jpcavin's Account Talk

Hello Gang! I've been lurking around here every once in a while. Don't have a whole lot to say. That and not making a whole lot of money puts a damper on things.
How about that Sprint, huh? I purchased 10 shares at $2.78 and it's current return is 75.90%. Wish I had bought a truck load of those babies...:notrust:

So what have I missed? Anyone get banned in my absence?:D
I'm still here. Welcome back.

Thank you Bill. How have you been doing?
Better.:) Mom in law passed, daughter had heart surgery, and when my wife called my brother in law's house to let him know about the niece, she was told he had pasted away. He was 60 which i'll be next month. Now the turn around and how life goes on. Daughter is better and out of hospital. Have a new grandaughter last week and a great grandson yesterday. So things are improving.:)

Knew about your mother-in-law. So sorry to hear about the rest but glad to see your daughter is improving. Congrats on the grandchildren! They're always a joy.
My family has had it's shares of ups and downs but we're taking it one day at a time. My oldest graduated from USAF Geospatial Intellligence school at Goodfellow and is on his way to Langley.
Will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Is he going there to help find Jason Borne or the new guy in Borne Legecy?Prabably the new guy, since he's USAF. JK:D

I saw the movie yesterday and it had all three in it. Intellligence, USAF and Langley. Couldn't resist. USAF Geospatial Intellligence? Maybe that too.

I logged in this afternoon with the intention of asking about the Basic Airman. Which I am sure he no longer is.

Geospatial Intellligence - that sounds like it's pretty far out man.

Nice to hear from you and regards to the young Airman from a retired lifer he never heard of before.

PO

Thanks PO. He was never a Basic Airman. He went in as A1C due to college credits. Geospatial Intel used to be Imagery analysis but it has branched out into two shreds - analyst and targeteer. He is a targeteer. I guess he gets to pick buildings to bomb and assess the damage afterwards...that's my take anyway. Too complicated and secret for me...

Thank you for your service. :)

I own several thousand shares and will continue to dollar cost average to the upside. It's a lot more pleasant to chase to the upside.

I would love that job. ;)

I bought some stock a while back on a whim....ACOM and EBAY. Never inteded to keep them long term but both are doing quite well right now. Should I keep or sell? How do you know when to keep something and when to get rid ot it?

All opinions welcome..I think.

I have the benefit of asking Mindylou for her opinion - I usually only sell when I need cash for a better purchase. I'm thinking of averaging down into my MCP and will sell some GWR to get the cash to buy more while it's golden.

No disrespect intended to the young Airman. I was going on the photo so it appears that just like in my time, no one wears their stripes while a basic trainee. Probably a good thing as during my time some of the prior service guys outranked the team member TI.

Including some old quotes for continuity.

My eldest left for USAF BMT on the 27th of December. He is currently in his 4th week of training at Lackland AFB. Will be gratuating 24th of February, then on to Sheppard AFB for Geospatial Intelligence Tech School. Thanks to the Air Force and Facebook, I can take a peek at him from time to time. He looks like he's having too much fun! I wonder if he has time to practice some Owling during watch? :toung::laugh:
I miss him terribly and can't wait to see him at graduation.

Wow. A basic Airman. Sitting on a chair in front of a bunk that both look like they could have been assigned to myself in the past. Very cool Judy. It is hard to believe it has been 15 years since my eldest was at Lackland. Even harder to believe it's been almost 40 since I was there. Try not to explode with the pride you are feeling.:D

Congrats, Mom

He should have his third stripe by now or soon. Or maybe he is a SSgt by now. Been a long time since I was active duty.

Thank you also for your service. I believe you were a swabette?:toung:

I believe you're right as far as not wearing his stripes at BMT. I believe all the services are like that. However, even though he could not wear his stripes during BMT, he did get paid for A1C from day one (as reflected on his LES). Graduation weekend, I took him to the uniform shop to get his stripes sewn on the rest of his uniforms as only one of each uniform had stripes. Seems that the service is not consistent across the board. Some of the trainees that went in as E2/E3 were paid as E2/E3 right away and others were paid as E1 during BMT and had to get their E2/E3 pay backdated after BMT.

Photo was taken on graduation day in his barracks.
