My eldest left for USAF BMT on the 27th of December. He is currently in his 4th week of training at Lackland AFB. Will be gratuating 24th of February, then on to Sheppard AFB for Geospatial Intelligence Tech School. Thanks to the Air Force and Facebook, I can take a peek at him from time to time. He looks like he's having too much fun! I wonder if he has time to practice some Owling during watch? :toung::laugh:
I miss him terribly and can't wait to see him at graduation.

Thanks for the congrats. As far as the compliment, I'm like ancient history but I try to hide it as best as I can.:D

Nice pic JP. It has been a long time since I was at Lackland. I bet a lot has changed since then. We used to call the main chow hall the green monster because of it's green roof. The main area we lived in had its own mini chow hall. Spent a lot of time doing KP. I know from the letters I got from my mom she missed me a lot also (I was the oldest). It's a mom thing. :)

Thanks Nasa. There is always something uniquely special about a mother's first born child.

Wow. A basic Airman. Sitting on a chair in front of a bunk that both look like they could have been assigned to myself in the past. Very cool Judy. It is hard to believe it has been 15 years since my eldest was at Lackland. Even harder to believe it's been almost 40 since I was there. Try not to explode with the pride you are feeling.:D

There are some forums where you can go and correspond with other parents or (in my case) tell a few of them to stop worrying and whining.

Congrats, Mom

Thanks PO. I'm very active on the Facebook forums (i.e. WingMoms and USAF BMT). I really enjoy talking to other parents going through the same experience. Yes, many moms are extremely worried. "They're being too mean to my baby"....LOL Yes, I am extremely proud.

Too mean, seriously. They would have died 20 years ago when hand written letters were the only means of communication and they WERE mean back then... Boot camp (remember, I am Navy and can only speak to my service) is a cake walk any more because we are so PC and heaven forbid we actually MAKE these new squids WORK.

I, by no means, am pointing this post at Judy, or her son. Just generalizations (but those currently in service leadership know) about a growing issue.

BTW, Judy, again congrats!! Every time I see my daughter (and her husband) in uniform I am very proud!!!

Good God RMI, I thought you were in your late 20s, early 30s!
I know what you mean about the booters. God forbid they talk mean to your baby? You don't know how many moms I have to calm down. I personnaly am glad they are giving him hell. He's been spoiled too long! Time to earn something on your own! :D

Uh, no... but thanks :D
My daughter is on her second DivO tour as Nav on a cruiser so she has about 18 months left and she's outta there... Son-in-law, don't know yet... He likes the Army Corps of Engineers (so far), he is the company XO, and they are dangling Ranger school in front of him... who knows...
