Jkenjohnson's Account Talk

What were you in that you gained 1.5% yesterday?

Good catch. It was actually 1.3% in the S fund going in Monday night and getting out Wednesday night. I have too many accounts etc to keep up with all of the data. Would have been 1.46% if had got out Tuesday night.

Ah, thought you were saying you had a one day 1.5% return yesterday.

No doubt about that. I was just trying to clarify when the gain was made.

A far as I can see, the buy signal on Friday night had the system in the market starting Tuesday, although personally he was out of IFT's.

But it looks like it will be back in the G fund on Friday after Wednesday night's sell signal (Thursday morning IFT).

For the record, I don't follow this system. No disrespect to jken, but it's pretty confusing to follow so I am stopping in once in a while to make sure I understand it since others are reading it. Carry on. :)

If the sell signal was triggered on Wednesday night, with an IFT on Thursday, unless the markets turn around the gains will be wiped out seeing as the S fund is currently down 1.44%.

That's correct.

I'm not passing judgement on the system. Just repeating what I see posted since it's confusing. jken can correct me if I'm wrong.

That seems to be the theme... confusing. If jken can get in the habit of using the IFT COB date it would make things a lot easier.

Example: Buy/Sell signal on Wednesday night. IFT to 100% X-fund COB 6/21.

I've been quiet here as a new guy to the forum and one that isnt really leading the pack on autotracker. I do appreciate Jken's posting. As I have been following it, his system is trending very favorably. I understand that his signals may not exactly match the TSP's silly 2 IFT/month rule, but the rule doesnt follow the market. Its hard to make decisions as we are so limited. I would prefer to see these signals, if you can act upon them, good for you, if you cant, thats on you, at least you can run to sell when required.

The reason I wanted to jump in was to provide support here, I want to keep seeing the signals.

but what do I know, I am relatively new, am only doing a mid level performance, but i do like to drink a lot too :)

Good call on the SELL, Ken!! :D

I got out too early....last Thurs. But now I am looking for the entry point. After today's 2% shellacking, does your system turn back to BUY yet?

Not pushing....I know you will post when it happens. Just super curious.

Thanks for the comment uscfanhawaii. I do not know if I will get a buy today, but I will after the close and the final S fund price comes out.

Now, as for all the other comments. I quit posting my system results because people said they could not follow it. Rather than fight and explain it, I was just posting the buy and sell signals. That wasn't well received because I did not post the date the signal was issued, even though the date of each post is on the thread. Also, I used to post the signal in my signature everyday (per RMI's request for use in the OCD Chart). That was not well received either. So, from now on I will post a buy or a sell and the date it occurred and that is all I am going to do. Will that work for everybody? I will not post my moves or track my returns as I don't always follow the system 100%. Ok with you Tom? Or, I can quit posting all together? I'm not offended by any of the comments, but at this point it really does not matter to me.

I'd like to continue to have you post your moves.

I'm not sure the best way to clarify your moves though.

It seems uscfan thinks you missed today's downdraft. That's not the case, is it? My understanding is your system went to a Sell Wednesday night, which would mean an IFT today, which would take effect Friday. Correct?

For those that are interested, as of 6/21/12, system remains on a sell. In my opinion, downgrading of several of the banks this afternoon will lead to more selling.

This I like. I think you're signals would be much more suitable for trading / believable if they came out at the end of the day vice during the next trading day. This is a signal I could act on and be prepared for tomorrow gap up/down.

Yeah please keep posting you're signals. While others don't have any IFT's left some still do that didn't jump in earlier. I like to see what you think the market will do and I will form my opinion if I should follow you in the market or not.

Deffinitely keep posting your signals. I would recommend dating your CHANGE IN SIGNALS with the date that the TRADE takes place, not the date that your calculated the signals on.

Example, your system calculates a BUY signal after you get the closing prices on wednesday 6/6/12 , that would result in a "BUY signal on Thursday 6/7/12", since that is when the trade takes place, not the date at which the data was gathered.

then your system calculates a BUY signal after closing prices on thursday- this "signal" is NOT reported, because its not a change in signal, so your signature, or where ever the signal is posted would still say "BUY signal on 6/7/12"

Then your system calculates a SELL signal after closing prices on friday. Since we can't act on this signal until Monday 6/11/12, that is when the actual signal would be, so it would change to "SELL signal on 6/11/12", not 6/8/12.

I just picked a random week, no particular reason for the dates I chose.
