This is my account talk thread. I don't want my trades tracked at this time so I'll hold off on creating an Account thread.

I was 100% I fund this morning and stayed in. Looking for a +FV today and a bounce in the OSM tomorrow. :cool:

Very pleased with my 100% I fund play the past three days. Now I'm gonna' take a profit and earn the G penny Monday. 100% G COB today. :cool:

Sticking with the plan to earn the G penny Monday. The sideways action in the C/S/I today makes me optimistic but doesn't move me to take any risk when there's easy money to be made. The past two Mondays haven't been good to me anyway... and I hate Mondays. :suspicious:

Until this year, I was a long-term investor in the TSP. I’ve got at least nine years to go until retirement. After taking stock of my account and my stock portfolio at the end of 2006, I realized I cannot afford to ride out another extended bear market and still get to where I want to be for retirement. (October ’00 to October ’02 really hurt me! I wasn’t paying enough attention!) And so, I’ve been actively trading my account this year with relative success. IMO, it’s a lot like gambling. And I am an inveterate gambler.

Anyone here who wants to converse about gambling, is playing poker competitively, on-line, or in casinos, is welcome to post in this thread. I’d be happy to congratulate and commiserate with you. :)

Do you normally play limit or no-limit? Tournaments or cash games?

With the recent gaming laws going into effect it's hard to find sportsbooks/poker rooms that are accepting US customers. The ones that are accepting us are few, and you never know when they will follow suit and quit so it's a gamble just trying to find one that will pay out.

I no longer play on-line for REAL money for the exact reasons Wind Hunter states. I do play on-line in free-rolls – where you play for an entry into an in-real-life tournament. I have won an entry into a WPT tournament but it wasn’t convenient for me to go so I sold my spot. For cash games, I play in casinos here in the KCMO metro area. I typically play limit Texas holdem; $10/$20 blinds. Missouri has loss-limit rules (don’t ask) so unless you’ve managed to stash a big bankroll you’ll get bullied at the no-limit tables with only $500 to $1000 in front of you.

Loss-limit? Where I've been playing, the buy-ins for no-limit are $100 min, $500 max, which I assume is to avoid bullying. It's like that online as well.

And 10/20 blinds I assume is 20 - 40 limits?
 
Ha! I told you not to ask! Missouri gaming regulations limit the amount of chips you can buy to $500 every two hours. For example, you may buy $500 in chips within 2:00 to 4:00, another $500 4:00 to 6:00, another $500 6:00 - 8:00... and so on. $500 is the most you can buy every two hours and if you lose your $500 you have to wait until the next two hour period to buy more. It is against the law to sell, buy or even GIVE chips between players. The state government insisted on the loss limit or they wouldn't approve casino gambling and the casino owners made the concession. The owners have been fighting to overturn it ever since!

No-limit is no-limit. You play with all the chips you have in front of you.

Yes, 20/40 limits.
 
I was in KC on a work related trip several years ago and played some poker. The whole boat thing was quite bizarre. You had people lining up to catch the next boat, and of course there is no boat. I had no idea what they were doing at first. These silly laws they make are very... well... silly.
 
Our casino pumps water a quarter mile from the Mississippi to under the gaming floor. Just the gaming floor is floating like a boat. LOL!!!
 
Bizarre is right. A little background information for the morbidly curious: The casinos here are still often referred to as “the boats” even though they are no longer boats but are brick and mortar buildings. The original idea – and what the Missouri voters approved - was that the river boats would actually take a leisurely cruise up and down the Missouri river. The cruises were to be two hours in duration; 30 minutes at the dock for boarding, one hour for cruising, and 30 minutes for de-boarding. You had to PAY $2 to get on the boat and you had to GET OFF after two hours. If you wanted to continue gambling you had to PAY $2 AGAIN and get back on. This is how the two hour $500 loss limit was enforced.

But then there were problems. Increased river traffic interfered with shipping lanes, bad weather, ice on the river, people trying to do themselves in by jumping overboard (and often succeeding.) So, the boats stopped cruising. And soon you didn’t have to get off after two hours. And then you didn’t have to pay the $2 (but the casino still pays the $2 to the state coffers for your entrance.) And then buildings replaced the boats. Now, except for the loss limit and the chip controls, it’s pretty much like any “normal” casino operation.

I don’t always play poker. Often, the only games available are no-limit and $3/$6. I don’t care to play these. The higher limit limit games which I prefer are open only when there is a demand and most people play the $3/$6. I don’t like these games because it’s basically playing showdown. Nobody folds! So anyway, as far as table games, I like Pai-Gow poker, Let-It-Ride, and good ol’ Blackjack. I do play craps also and my favorite gambling memories and stories are about playing craps! :laugh:

As much as I hate to be on the sidelines with no action... I'm going to sit tight in the G Fund for another day (at least.)

Dont have anymore real money accounts either because of the recent legislation passing. Currently olaying on full tilt.net freerolls to qualify for the poker after dark show.

Here's the lowdown:
*First win 360 person sit n go. One starts every 10 minutes. Only first moves on.
*Tuesdays have round 2....Usually have 3000+ entries because you can buy-in for 100FTP points. Top 9 places move to round 3 final in April.

I am looking to win a free seat this year to the World Series Main Event. How about we update here on the latest promos to win one. Last year Full tilt had a good one but I dont see it this year yet.

Anyone played on Mansion.net for the poker dome?

I'll go 20C, 40S, 40I... and then go back to bed. Got a nasty head cold. Had to take a sick day - my first in over six years. :sick:
 
I'm feeling much better today and am back at work.

Good thing I got out of the F Fund yesterday! But my new distribution isn't going to make me much money today. Oh well. I'll forego the G penny, stay put and hope for an up day Monday. :suspicious:
