How old is everyone here?

My only consolation is that FERS retirement is a lot better than NO retirement! :)

Lady

No doubt about it. It is hard to believe that numerous folks switched from CSRS to FERS on the two opportunities that the government pushed. As I recall, one opportunity was in about 1986 and the other about 2000.

Lady, just think about all that FREE money you get in your TSP every two weeks from FERS. :)

no condolances necessary.....with my opportunity to invest and manage my own money in stocks, I will have millions before i retire and will actually make more in retirement than i do working now......right......thats what they told me......;)

I am young enough to be one of the last on CSRS.:)

When I started...the lady in personnel told me that i was the first person she processed that had to take FERS....and then rubbed it in by saying "if you would have come in yesterday you could have chosen.....
My congratulations to Gumby and my condolences to CapeChem. Being one of the first FERS folks has been a real bite in the keister my whole career. My only consolation is that FERS retirement is a lot better than NO retirement! :)

Motto: Better to be a day early than a day late. :) That was an expensive day.

I propose a better plan. 60% for 30 years @ 55 years of age CSRS. So we can retire with a bit more money like the politicians who we elect then give themselves pay raises then expect us, the lowly federal worker to bite the bullit. Vote the jerks out all of them.

In the beginning CSRS minimum age was 55 with 30 years. They changed the starting percentage from 60%, originally to 56.25% and have been taking away benefits ever sense!! :suspicious: FERS bites it!!

What are the odds on this message board?

So now we get down to it!

What time of day? I do not remember. Early evening I think.

What time zone? EST

Was it some nurses watch or did someone tune in WWV for the occcasion?

Or we could just say "hey cool" and promise to have a cold one for each other every year:laugh: DEAL. I will raise a cold one every year.

Good luck on your planned retirement and hope you get high 3 instead of high 5. That could make a big diff at your percentage. Will not make much difference I am maxed out at my current rate. Cost of living rates that's it.
And just curious (nosey?). Did you even think about converting to FERS? Nope

Regards

Pess

LOL  Thanks Pess
I'm guessing the same date:confused: You, me and John Wayne.
