Good Morning;
I’ve decided to just list those funds and indicators that TSP’ers would be interested in here at TSPtalk. I’ll be listing some ETF’s over at Tom’s new website, ETFTalk.com in the near future.
I have listed below prices, and moving averages for, C, S, I, $BPNYA (Bullish Percent Index), $VIX (Volatility Index), and $USD (US Dollar). The C, S, and I funds have had trouble getting above their longer term moving averages, so until they do, confidence in these markets will be non-existent and only very short term investing is in order. A good time to play it safe in G in my opinion. Rallies in C, S, or I will be unsustainable, so making money in these markets will be very difficult, especially with TSP limitations. If you are lucky enough to catch a rally usually the declining 20day moving averages can act a resistance point and may be a good place to sell out..
The F-fund seems to work best with the Slow Stochastics indicator so I have listed the numbers relating to the fast line and the slow line. When the numbers are above 80 then cross below 80, that would be a sell signal. When the numbers are below 20 then cross above 20 that would be a buy signal. If the number stays above 80 or below 20 for 3 or more days, they are “embedded“. When embedded the F should be gaining momentum either upward or downward. Currently the F fund slow stochastic indicator has come down to near a buy point but more time is needed to see if a bottom is forming. Personally I’m waiting for the BPNYA (below) to turn back up before investing in stocks.
$BPNYA (NYSE Bullish Percent Index) is considered bearish & oversold, below 30%, and the percentage reading @ 12.11%, is below its 5dyma @ 13.87% as well as its 20dyma @ 27.82%. NYSE Bullish Percent Index. simply put, is the percentage of all NYSE stocks on current buy signals from all NYSE Point and Figure charts. A reading above 50% is bullish, below 50% is bearish. A reading above 70% is overbought, below 30% is oversold. If you don’t believe this market is going lower, please go to stockcharts.com and type in $BPNYA to see this chart. This oversold condition can persist for quite some time considering the markets current weakness. The last time we went down, it was to a reading of only 8.00% !!!! Currently we are at 12.15%! A buy signal does not officially trigger until the percentage reading moves back above 30%, but if it moves above its 5dyma it very well may be the start of a worthwhile rally.
I’m currently 100G in the tracker and staying there. I’m waiting for the $BPNYA to turn up before making a move to stocks. Good Luck to all! !
