Frixxxx's Account Talk!

I believe one member has had me on ignore for the past three years. It's to her detriment when you look at the tracker - but I don't care. I'm making mine.

I agree. I have read some really crazy stuff lately on this MB with threads going majorly off topic. I have chosen to avoid reading tsptalk for awhile hoping it would settle down, but I miss the information sharing (not the punditry). Maybe if the ignore lists was used to personalize our lurking experiences by ignoring some threads and some members, then it would be used more? My TV has been programmed to skip over FOX News when i serf;). Not the end of my lurking if this does not happen - it's become an addition:D
I guess it is the bad with the good rule..I just hope nobody invokes Goodwin's here.....Anyway, I don't skip over either Fox or CNN. Their commercial times are off just enough that I can switch from one to the other at a time to see both perspectives of the headlines. After a quarter past the hour, I catch a Squawk and then reverse the process on the big 2 "news" shows.

I doubt it Birch, probably just lurks over your threads! I thought of the opposite as well...who ignores me? But then again, I haven't been helpful as late. need more time to do the charts in stock instead of currency.

Thanks for stopping by!

You will see that they have posted, but you won't have to see the drivel in the post. ....and review the results:cool:!
...however, anytime a reply is given with the `quote' button, you will see that part of the original that is quoted.
I gather there is not an `alert' button for the ignored - to be aware they are treading dangerously? :embarrest: ...or is that the use of `report this post' ?
...except that it may not be a particular post - :( just a general distaste...

Thats what PMs are for.

Thanks grandma, I forgot about that pesky little issue!

I will not use PMs for the powers of evil.

Generally I am here for the TSP and related info. Gaining knowledge for the most part and a bit of "fun" posting here and there.

Avoiding certain "hot" topics will probably suffice as a substitute for the Ignore feature...but its good to know its available if I decide to use it. In comparision to other boards Ive seen, TSPtalk discussion is conducted in quite a civil manner, tho I have observed what could be labeled as "baiting" and then retreating to the moral "high ground" once other posters become incensed over the discussion.

There are a lot of other MB's that are better suited for that bizness. Just my two centavos.

You probably won't see this as I'm bound to be on your 'ignore list'.

Your input is what adds a lot of value to the MB and not reading (or avoiding) the site does not make it better. What makes it better is what you share; both personally and about Armstrong (who I only know because of you).

I would just say one more thing --- if something really strikes you as 'crazy' -- then be willing to respond -- even if it's only one time just to let the rest of us know where you stand.

Anyway --- always good to hear another point of view -- especially from someone who expresses herself pretty well.

Freely expressing an opinion even an unpopular one I believe is a first amendment right. Some people can't take a difference of an opinion. Therefore hit the ignore button.

She'll see it now. :D

Further veering, I'm surprised to hear how the ignore function works and wonder why it was necessary for such draconian measures. I thought I was the last one to learn how to use the mouse scroll wheel.

No not Draconian, that would be banned by consensus.

Sometimes a thread, now mind you this is TSPTALK.com not MYOWNPERSONALOPINION.COM, gets in deep and some of the comments are either off-topic or inflammatory.

Hence the ignore function allows those to pick and choose the conversations they want to get involved with.

Wow, a built in MB function, all ready to go!

You are assuming I don't have you on ignore.... oh, wait..... DARN... Never mind:D

I had only one ignore - Milkman. I just do not have the time to read the drival, so I have to take a break from time to time. It would be great if we could highlight the 'must read' threads and members. Tom, Coolhand, JTH, and Uptread's blogs etc... are my first reads. We could personalize a page that just brings up the threads or posts of our favorites (I have a lot of favorites, so maybe that would not allow a change in the way things are...:notrust:) On second thoughts, this MB works fine as it is. I have learned a great deal from most everyone on this MB even though I do not agree with their POV or conclusions. Just writing drival......(it's contagious).

Well I'm glad I'm not on your ignore -- and it honestly doesn't matter to me if you ever read any of my stuff. The important thing is finding those things that mean something to you and the threads you mentioned are very worthwhile.

For me threads like this one, Squalebear, Birthtree, and the wide variety of comments from Lady, Grandma, CB, Buster, Alevie, Nnutt, Show-me, James, and many others --- and I do mean many others because I can not name all of them off the top of my head including you, Silverbird, Nasa and a huge bulk of others.

Wow just realized I left out Sugar and Spice - :);)

Anyway - it's a good place for a wide variety of things; including some endearing friendships. You talking me into Armstrong's world was wonderful.

Well it's good to see ya back --- whenever you post.

To all my friends here...I am probably on several ignore lists by now and probably rightlfully so...for that, I will publically apologize to those I have pissed off enough to do that...I will be the first to admit, that I am a character and sometimes even an enigma...But deep down under this boyish rascal persona, I am a genuine and naturally helpful person with strong convictions...I may not be the brightest light in the closet and never want to come across as the ALL KNOWING (like one person that has recently joined this MB), but I like to see both sides of an argument and try to find common ground if it is available...my intent in frivolous discussions, is not to insult or hurt feelings as some have delibertly tried doing to me, but to have a spirited discussion and perhaps even learn something from it while having fun too, The having fun part, I sense from a few on this board, is not their idea for this type of a discussion board...Again, for that I'm sorry, but I will not change me...Life is too short to get all strung up on minor details and small mistakes such as, speelling or gramnar, or wondering off topic for a little slapstick humor, (as happens sometimes when I get involved with a topic...)

So in light of this Holiday season, I wish all of you to be well, happy and best of luck in this crazy market and hope that I can always consider you all friends to some degree or another.

That is all:o

PS: Thanks Frixxx for the use of your thread.;)
