IMHO, I remain concerned about the downtrends in the 50 Day and 200 Day MA's, and still smell a bear trap.. but then again I'm a lot greyer than I used to be and my nose doesn't work all that well...
So, How else can they keep us investing unless they throw us a bone occasionally to keep our fear in check (ala today) ..But more to the point, we're entering a seasonwhere most of us have been able to make a buck or two...so my focus is how to play our limited IFT's in what is likely to be a quiet Christmas season and make the +4% goal I've set for the remainder of the year..
8 of our current top 10 on the MB are fully invested in stocks, 1 is G/F, and 2 full G. If I play, it's very short term for a dead cat bounce..but I'm waiting until Monday to see what the universe serves us over the weekend..GL to all.

IMHO, Johny Cash had it right...Down down down that burning ring of fire..
Just for the record, I Hope Monday doesn't tank but I can't help but feel the market is up against a lot of stuff..another bank failing, Fannie and Freddie, Elliot wave theory, and resistance galore...and then there is Ike...yucch...when does the good news start back up again..:

Usually..when we have a day where the market tanks 43.28 points, I'd be buying in 100%..hoping to catch the dead cat bounce...but probably not tomorrow..
Cramer said the bottom was in...I hope he is right. However, I'm simply not playing games in this environment. The mood out there is too negative for this old retired guy..If we settle above 1224 tomorrow, I'll start to relax a it, but if we drop, I'll just enjoy my stay on the Lily Pad a bit longer.
Looking for my next buying opportunity...I hope it's soon..

In an attempt to assuage investors, Lehman said late Tuesday that before markets open Wednesday, it will offer a preview of its third-quarter earnings and announce "key strategic initiatives."
The people familiar with the firm said Lehman plans to announce it is in talks with money manager BlackRock Inc. to sell a package of primarily British residential real-estate assets. Also, Lehman is expected to announce a separate plan to spin off some commercial real-estate assets into a new company, referred to internally at Lehman as SpinCo. The remaining portion of the firm, shorn of much of its distressed real-estate assets, is being called CleanCo, these people say.
Lehman has been shopping for investors to buy a piece of its investment-management unit, which includes the profitable asset-manager Neuberger Berman. Three private-equity firms are in the running for this division, with bids due late Friday night. People familiar with the company say this piece could bring in about $5 billion.
The 158-year-old financial firm was trading normally with counterparties on Tuesday. Rival Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said it was doing business with the firm.

Actually that was announced on 9/5. I happened across it while looking for a reason for the AGG to be acting so goofy. I guess the FAN/FRED show stole the limelight from LEH, now that dog & pony show is over LEH is back in the spotlight. They were just waiting for the Koreans to say NTY to make it official.

When I read 12%'s post that today would be green, I thought No Way..
12%, you are the man..You have an intuitive sense of the market that few others have..bringing to mind those time treasured words from Wayne's World.....I'm Not Worthy
I still think we're headed down in a big way soon based on EWT. Sorry I'm missing some bounces here, but IMHO..the downside will happen sooner than later. Watch for a major head fake based on a sucker rally that goes real bad..

That’s why this week’s Game Plan, just like last week’s, is a call to viewers to keep selling their stocks into any strength. Deal or not, we’re still most likely going to see a recession, so you want to preserve capital at all costs. The only thing a congressional agreement really brings us is avoidance of another Great Depression.
I'm actually surprised the downside isn't worse than that..We'll need some analysis to get a sense of the probable ranges if they approve the Bailout tomorrow..How much lower will we go...hmmmm..

Hi: I've missed posting but it's taken me a while to get my mojo back. I put myself out there in early October and "getting bit" would be an understatement. I made the mistake of believing that our Congress would move quickly in our national interest. Oh well, in for a dime...in for a dollar..
I hope that we are at or near bottom. A month ago, I wrote how Cramer had indicated that 8200 looked like bottom. I hope he's wrong and that we've now hit bottom. Only time will tell. Sooner or later, the market will recover. I'm all in now. Might as well stay there. All the best to the MB.

After all the pain of the last two months, it's nice to see the market move to the upside for more than one day. May all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, a great Christmas (or other positive spiritual event), and may the markets be good to us all in December..

Too bad it's not warm weather where I could go to the West Coast and take my guitar; ya know find a sail boat and just be real blend in with the Universal groove and jam for days on end.

I liked last week a whole lot better...I've got to believe we've just about endured out as much pain as is required to hit bottom...I am going to be surprised to see this market continue to move down. There are too many fixes in the mix and I've got to beleive that the "fix it" efforts will start working for all of us soon...
