Meta stock drops 12% as heightened AI spending overshadows strong third-quarter results

Meta shares fell after the social media giant’s boosted capital expenditures target overshadowed strong third-quarter results.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg defended the ambitious spending plans and said the company is already seeing returns in its core business and “aggressively” preparing for superintelligence,

Alphabet and Microsoft also upped spending expectations after reporting earnings on Wednesday.
