EricDeLee's account talk

The transactions on TSP.gov weren't posted to our account summaries from the day previous until late in the next day. You could see it though by mid-day under "recent transactions".
Ok. I had last two IFTs input in time and showing in my allocation in tracker but not on recent trans list so I let Tom know and he updated it to reflect correctly on recent trans list and on tracker. My entries were submitted timely.

Well... I wanted to see a Quarterly Statement from TSP since I've actively been managing my account.
For the quarter, I did better than I have ever done. I was at -.77% for my 12 month return on the second quarter statements. Then I took over, made changes, followed advise, and now I sit at 8.19% 12 Month Return. Is it GREAT? not by some standards set here.... but for me... it is.

I'm happy with chance to learn and actually see everything put into perspective here. Will it always be this great? I doubt it... but I do like seeing me turn things around like that. I realized that this is even with a mistake I made around mid July.... I think I sold low, bought high... and suffered some losses that way. Stupid, but I had to learn one way or the other.

So in that short time: 8%+ increase. (or is it more, since it actually is saying 8%+ for a 12 month return?) I'm good with that!
Since then, I have also turned my wife's plan around. It was highly invested towards bonds, and losing money. I think her previous quarterly statment had her at making .30% for the quarter. She made 3.59% this past quarter since I took over the managing of it in mid July.

All looking upwards!

Side note... on the tracker here... I went from about -6.50% in JUNE.... to turning it around and I'm over 5% here. That's a good 11% swing...

In no way am I an expert...
but things are looking great.

I believe we are on a good uptrend that'll have a few hiccups along the way. Perhaps a small dip of .25 % here and there, but other than that I think we will have a nice and steady incline through mid-Jan. Hope I'm right. I think we can see an additional 1% increase in the SP500 for the month of October. We may hit 1775 by Friday. Perhaps the same for the I fund... Another 1% gain is what I expect... Hope for.

With that said, I've made @ 3.75% in the TSP... And @ 4.50% for my wife's plan. Overall... Very happy with those results. Especially in my wife's account. Dollar amounts really show up in noticeable chunks when the markets doing well. Keep on keeping on....

The Japanese are taking some profits early morning - but the euro gains will pull our market into plus territory.

Not a bad month! I'm pretty much all in for the first of the month, which was a goal of mine. I've pulled around 3.25% gains for the month of October (hopefully Halloween will push it a bit higher). With that, my wife's account (non-TSP) was up nearly 5%. A slightly good day would push it straight over 5%. Great gains on her account throughout the month. It was fun to watch!

for Halloween, I'm asking and hoping for a treat, rather than a trick.
Ten it is off to the races for the remainder if the year. Side note, I've got my new TSP Contributions dumping into C Fund. Plan to keep that steady for a few months as there have been some steady gains in the C Fund.

also... As always I am always looking for cheap silver and lucked out locally again. I grabbed a small bit, 5 ozs (5- 1 oz bars --opm and sunshine) $5 under what normal sites are selling it for. Normal sites like apmex and jm bullion are selling for about $24 an ounce plus shipping. Works for me! On top of that, I grabbed some Morgan Dollars at $20 a piece from the same guy. Knowing they go $30+ on feebay.... That was an easy buy for me. Perhaps I've been getting pretty lucky on the silver aspect locally. I'll keep doing that as long as I know they are real.

Well... I guess for Halloween we got tricked rather than treated. Still not as bad as a bag of flaming dog poop on the porch, but, I think a 1.5% decrease for the week.
Time for the switch to be hit, and start bringing in holiday cheer! Right?
I am still considering moving a bit more to the C Fund. It outperformed really well this last month compared to others. Maybe I'll just let it ride with my contributions only. Unless we have a few more bad days, then I'll sell off some of the S Fund for a profit and buy into the C Fund.

Happy hunting!!!

I believe we are in a see-saw pattern since the last week of October. I expected a bit more on the positive side.... But I'm at around .75% for the week... So I won't complain. I think we flatline tomorrow, maybe lose a tiny bit (.10-.20%)... And then edge up on Friday to close the week. Or at least I am hoping so. Then we wait until Tuesday for the magical TSP workers to return to give us our gains or losses for Veteran's Day. I'll take 1% go the week please!!!

then I think we start that great upward trend we are all waiting on. Generally speaking I am expecting 3 percent increase through January Keep positive!!!

So much for being in the positive for the week! Lol!
I will jut have to start saying the opposite of what I think will happen. Every time I say... We are going to lose about .25% and then gain it back, we drop a big 1% or something silly. Or I'll say we are looking flat, so we are going I stay even Steven... Then we grab a 1.50% gain while I'm sitting in safety land. So in the hopes that this rings true... We will have a 1.57% loss tomorrow. Guaranteed! Don't even second guess me

(let's see how that works. Lol)

In the spirit if the prediction I made last night... Monday and Tuesday will be awful. Terrible. Hide your wife and children!!!!! 1.30% correction each day. Guaranteed.

/sarcasm. C'mon Bulls!

Just a snapshot of my wife's account after I took over to make some adjustments. The August month was a blah month... But that was the same for a lot of people. So much better than the tiny amounts all of the months prior to that.

(trying this from my phone.... Let's see if this works)

Well that didn't work. Lol
the picture showed 6 months of a rate of return in the negatives of about -.25% each month. She was mainly set in bonds before I took over. Then it had a crap month of August (2 or 3 percent loss). Than 3.5-4% increases each month for Sep and Oct. move is continuing that upward trend.

All because of this site! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The new BAH and COLA rates for 2014 are out now.
With those and the 1% pay increase in Jan, I think I'm clearing $200

I assure you that's going straight to my TSP.
Promotion is on the way as well. Time to make a few decisions.
Was number 1 on the list most of this year and I believe I'll keep that top spot 1 Jan when it is released

looking forward to a great year!

Actually, on Jan 1 I think it's in strictly alphabetical order. Then for the next month or two we are clumped together in alphabetical groups around the common funds we are invested in. It takes a little bit for the trading to spread us out. :toung:

Huh?What I am saying is, I'm receiving a certain percentage of increase in pay (remember, I'm still Active Duty)... And with say increase I'm bumping up my TSP contribution

My mistake, sorry. :embarrest: I can see now you were talking about the promotion list. I thought you were refering to your standing on the TSP AutoTracker list. You can see where my mind is at. I guess I tried reading too many threads at once.

Looks like I will be doing a 5% increase on TSP.
In June, I hit an 18 year mark, so I'll be doing an increase here as well.
Jan may be the promotion month, so I'll split that increase between TSP and a Roth IRA

much better than just the 1% increase I was expecting... And nothing else.
Im investing in my future, that's for sure
