The TSP website is not broadcasting anything about being closed on Monday, and they usually do a couple of days before closing for a holiday, so I would presume they will be open to execute trades on Monday for at least the stock portions. (banks are closed, so I don't know if the F will trade on monday.)

Note to fellow posters:

Kindly please refrain from posting any direct reference to any move that exactly follows one of the premium services (i.e. don't tell everyone which fund Ebb, Fred or RevShark is going to) in the public areas- as that defeats the purpose of the premium service.

Ebb's, Fred's and Revsharks moves may known publically prior to today, but we are now shifting into premium service only data, and it is proper ettiquite (spelling, I'm sorry) to avoid posting anything that allows non-premium members to figure out where the shift is. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

And if anyone sees someone intentionally mention one of those moves, please hit the "report post" button, so that we can keep on top of it, and keep your premium service of value to you.

thanks in advance.

(my second post) the first time I posted I was looked down at because I didn't punctuate properly "this isnt a chat board"said nnuut) . You will be getting my 15.95 a month for your advice and I will be glad to pay it, Even though some posters think that they are supieror to others (I may not know how to punctuate my msg perfect (nnuut) bet I can build or fix anything that comes up, my puctuation isn't perfect but I can do what I do can) . Anyone that posts that makes someone feel like they said the wrong thing. Will not ever past again so be careful how you respond to first time posters.

Actually, that was your 4th post, and was quite different than your first two. I thought that maybe your third post was written without normal punctuation for effect.

In any regard, if you truly want to participate, then don't intentionally make it hard to read your contribution. Your choice .

This is posted on the TSP Website:

The Thrift Savings Plan will be closed on Monday, October 8th, in observance of Columbus Day. Transactions that would have been processed Monday night (October 8th) will be processed Tuesday night (October 9th), at Tuesday's closing share prices.

Welcome aboard, Hendricusl! Yes the ebbchart was updated for Monday. The market is going to be open, so there is no need for any shifting. But my question is whether we'll be able to make an IFT on Monday morning so it will be effective for Tuesday. Just in case the ebbchart goes to a different fund for Tuesday. I got to know soon, so I can decide better.

Ebb,

Since it appears that we can't make a IFT on Monday morning so it will be effective for Tuesday, then it looks like we can't change from what we already chose for Monday. Is that right? And if it is, then it's not fair for the TSP not to do transfers since the Market will be open.

Am I correct in thinking that if we do a IFT before 12:00 pm Friday, that it will move our money to the new fund for Monday (not Tuesday)?

Maybe I've missed it, but if I haven't:

Is there a place yet where paying members can discuss Ebb's moves without fear of the wrath of an angry god descending on our heads?

I'm under the impression we cannot do that in this thread anymore.

Whatever move you make before noon today will be purchased at Friday's closing price, and held until Tuesday's closing price. If you make a move either Monday or Tuesday, it will take place on Tuesday's closing price (end of day). A suggestion is that if you plan to be in one fund Monday and a different fund Tuesday, split the difference and put 50% in each at the close of business Friday.

I see what you are saying. As a matter of fact, that is what I thought too originally but that is not what I would like to do, if I had my choice. I would like to be in one fund 100 % on Monday and a different fund 100 % on Tuesday. Looks like that won't be possible. I think the TSP managers are screwing us because the market is opened but they are closed for business. Because the market is open, I think they the TSP should be open to move our funds. Oh well, I'll just have to leave it in one fund for both days.

By the way, EBB, since we do have to leave it in the one fund, can you post on the pay site, which fund you think we should be in for the two days (Monday and Tuesday)?

Thanks,
Bigdave

I was wondering the same thing. Can we have a portion of the message board that is just accessable to the people who pay?

I guess we have to speak in code. I'm going to stay in the prior fund and not the latter. I would say why, but that would give away too much info. I'd suggest looking at the charts and using your own good sense. I don't think you'd go wrong either way, but there's no way of telling the future so....Good Luck with whatever you choose! :)

You mean there is a change in funds?:D:D:D Cool I got some free info.....

My understanding is that what you chose for Monday, you will get for Tuesday.
Yes it bites that no transfers are done on Monday but it is a Federal Holiday and do you want to pay for their overtime? And if they would get comp time instead when could they take it that wouldnt affect us getting service?

Welcome scottn83!!!

scottn83,

IMO, there must be a misunderstanding. We don't give a crap about spelling or punkuation. Just give us you thoughts and questions.

Welcome to the message bored!!! :D

Welcome to the MB!!!

xb88, Hendricus, Wilboar53, Harcorps, and anyone else I missed. Welcome to the MB! Glad to see you on board. :D

Ebb,

So...what fund are we to be in for Mon/Tues. Since we can't make an IFT on Mon?

Ah...the responsibilities of running a "premium service"! :worried:

So maybe that's the answer. Perhaps if you're a paying member, then when you head to the page that gives you Ebb's system, there should also be a message board on the same page. Or at least a link to a password protected message board where Ebb and the paying members can hash-out how the system is performing and why.

In the end, this whole dancing around the elephant in the living room thing is killing me. That and not being able to hear open discussion on whatever moves are being made makes me feel less confident in the system, not more.

My two-fair value-cents.

No need to speak in code today...Tom posted Ebb's moves for monday and tuesday in his daily commentary for those who have paid but still can't access the service
