Dr Faustus's Account Talk

Dr. Faustus, I'm a little confused. Your system went to the G fund on the 17th right when the equities were right about their current period lows. Your return was 22.87% then. It then went to the S fund right at it's current peak on the 24th and you are now up 23.89%?

Sorry to question you, but it just doesn't add up...........

System Report ... as of 11/30, my YTD return is +23.89%

Still 100% in S

Hey IT ...

I haven't been too diligent about posting trades since I haven't been on the tracker, but here is what I have:

I think you're right ... looks like I entered the S fund at cob on the 24th, not the 23rd.

Recalculating ...

My YTD return is 21.34%.

Good catch!

One of the reasons why I didnt enter the AutoTracker this year. :)

Thanks. Even though I have my own system, it's never a bad idea to see what the other people with good returns are doing............;)

Even though the system is telling me to remain in the S fund, I am getting out for the remainder of the year ... going 100% G cob today. My access during the holidays is likely to be sporadic, so I want to put myself into a safe position.

MTD earnings : 7.51%
YTD earnings : 30.46%

Next year will be the first full year test of the system - am looking to make a good showing. My goal is not to get the highest rate of return amongst the those on the Tracker, but rather to be "in the running" year after year.

Good luck to all for the rest of this year and may God smile upon you and yours.

Merry Christmas!

Dan

Had some trouble logging into my account this morning, but was able to get into the tracker ok, so I made my IFT there.

Went 20 C, 40 S, 40 I cob today ( 1/3 )

F-Fund is showing a sell signal ... others are either giving a SELL or ALERT status. Seeing as how the S&P would have to go up by over 4% today to change the ALERT status to a BUY, I think I'll switch to G. 100% G COB today ... 3/24

Looks like I'm getting bitten by the 2-IFT rule and the trading .. ah, sorry .. rebalancing ... delay. I'm going to stay in G until I can figure this out. I expected to be doing a LOT better this year. :(

Thanks! Re: my system - I've only really been testing it against the "S" fund ... am happier with it but of course the proof is in the pudding. The main flaw I was having (and have always had) was responsiveness ... I'd get in too late and out too late. I'm trying to increase the responsiveness while maintaining stability, a tricky tightrope to walk as I'm sure you can attest to. But I'm having some fun playing around with it and trying to beat someone's performance always adds a bit of excitement. All in good fun, of course.

I hope the last year has treated you well?

Basically, I look at 3 moving averages - a short term, a medium term and a long term. And I have some rules for when they do various things.

S092012.jpg

Green = price, Blue = short (smoothed), Yellow = medium (smoothed), Red = long (smoothed). As you can see, I'm projecting that the short
term is going to dip below the medium term ... and so, even though the long term is still trending up, this is a sell indicator.
