Dr Faustus's Account Talk

Hey Dan, A little early to get into the mix, IMO. i did stick my head into the mix a bit. Market still a pretty volatile. But, no guts, no glory!!! For all our sakes, let's hope this is really the turn around. Thanks again for your insight. It has kept me out of trouble for the last month. I look forward to reading your thread each morning. Good trading be with you.

Thanks ... though I gotta tell ya, with the last two days here, I'm kinda getting the feeling that the train has passed me by. I hope I can catch an upswing that's good for a couple of percent!

I agree with you Dan....That is why I'm in the market as well. I've got 10% to make up and i can't get it done in the G and F funds alone. The up swings in a bear market seem to be fast and furious, then retreat back down just as fast. Having said that....Are you going to try to time this up swing and get out before it tanks, or are you going to go with the flow and hope the bottom isn't to deep?

I guess I'm wondering if the weekend will signal a down swing....so I should get out tomorrow for Monday, or whether the upswing has more life in it. Nobody knows for sure, just wondering if there are any indicators to suggest one way or another .... and what your gut might be telling you. I'm not familiar enough with trading in a bear market to have any feelings about it. Take Care

Craig

Yes Rod, I am truly happy that I am not in the F fund. However, i did gain back a few percentage points while i was in F. I listened to Dr. Faustus and didn't get caught up in the down turn of the C S and I. I'm hoping to get back in to stocks and start riding the wave up. My concern is 'how far can I ride the wave before it tanks?' My crystal ball is full of air bubbles because it has been shaken so much.

Well, when I bought into S yesterday, I forgot to mention to sell the F. As it is, the F fund crossed the 10 DMA line yesterday, which is a sell signal. Of the other funds, the C fund is now flirting with a buy signal as well. But I'm going to stick with the S.

Somehow, I feel like Slim Pickens riding the A-bomb to the ground in Dr Strangelove.

we're on an ICBM on the way up, waiting for apogee, or grabbing the yoke waiting on the stall flip

I look at it more like driving up a long mountain road. It slowly goes up but there are dips, drops and valleys along the way. Just make sure your seatbelt is fastened!

Anyone have any idea how long Slim could have ridden the bomb before air resistance "threw" him off?

Assuming his weight to be 150 lbs and the mass of the human body to be 3.47, the weight of the "A" bomb in the 1950's to be 3756 lbs. assumed drop altitude (estimated by the view) to be about 3500 ft. above the surface. Mountain terrain, so it could be assumed that the surface altitude was about 4000 ft. The average grip of the left hand of a guitar player to be approximately 11.2 psi. The rate of acceleration, air density, coefficient of friction, grip and the sheer stupidity of the whole thing. Just over 14.3 seconds.

The next question is : Is 14.3 seconds long enough to hit the ground?
Lets see d=at2 so d= 32ft/sec sq times 14.3 secs times 14.3 sec
d= 6543.68 ft traveled while holding on
I do believe he made it to the ground :cheesy:

Well, the USM futures look pretty bad this morning and the OSMs look even worse. I got into the S fund for Friday but now I am wondering if I didn't jump the gun. I'll have to give the markets a look-see after my 9 o'clock today to see how things are going. If its bad, I'll be considering a move to the F fund.
