I am sort of confused. The pre-open cash futures are positive in relation to Fair Value. indicating a quite positive open. Is this due to traders expectations of a compromise in the Congress, expectations of a government shut-down, or a runaway rally regardless of the current political and global problems?

CH, excuse me for posting this before having read your last night's 7 Sentinels analysis. I see the answers there. Thanks.

You're not the only one confused..... Futures are following European Markets up after good Portugal bond action?? They are still paying sky high interest on those bonds and it is questionable that they will be able to make 4/15/11 large bond payment. Thats the good news?? I don't get it either, Maybe just momentum trade? I guess I should give up on looking at Market moves logically or what you think it should do as Tom often says..:)

Negative headlines tend to produce the strongest advances in a bull market. Shut things down - who cares at this point.

When I had my cataracts removed, my Dr's newest fellow had just arrived from Spain for a years' residency.
She was a highly skilled Ophthalmologist, with diagnosis and opinion often identical to my Dr, who was the top Glaucoma and Cataract specialist in our area.
This mirrors how she described the Spanish health care system, where she did public service at public health facilities 1/2 of her day,
then private pay/practice the other 1/2.
She said:
Dr's in the US make alot more money.
I asked her if she would move here to practice-
She said No. ;)

Which only shows she wants to stay in Spain, that's it. If I would get paid more in Spain for what I do, I wouldn't move. It isn't all about money.

So, was your point to bash our healthcare system (or doctors) or what? :suspicious:

My point was more to provoke thought about our H/C system being only one of many in the world, with the paradox of costing significantly more per capita and with higher mortality rates, than in countries where Doctors willingly contribute as gov't workers to their countries' health and well being.

You're quite right, it isn't all about the money. ;)

Higher mortality rates where? Here?

yep...

The rankings of some wealthy nations for both men and women are less favourable in 2010 than they were in 1990, partly because of improvements in health elsewhere, but also due to an epidemic of "lifestyle" diseases related in particular to obesity.

The United States slipped from 34th and 41st place for men and women in 1990 to 49th and 45th respectively in 2010.

The five countries in 2010 with the lowest male adult mortality are, in order, Iceland, Sweden, Malta, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

For women, the countries are Cyprus, South Korea, Japan, Greece, Italy and Spain.

Over the four-decade period South Korea made spectacular gains, with its ranking for men rising from 167 to 31, and for women from 123 to 2.

Funding for the research came from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
