College Football

My husband and son are headed to Charlotte tomorrow for the Belk Bowl, Virginia Tech Hokies taking on Arkansas. Go Hokies!

West Virginia vs Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl at 5:30 Eastern time on ESPN. Should be a good one!!!

While we wait for College football playoffs\national championship; UFC fans, Ronda Rousey is back Sat. December 30th UFC 207. That chin might be vulnerable to hard punches. That's how initially Holly Holm got to her, punched her hard, wobbled her and kicked\knocked her out silly. Brutal. Word has it Mr. Miyagi'll be in her corner

Really pulling for VA Tech this weekend! Son is an Engineering student at VA Tech, would be nice to see. While it would be an upset, it would not be the first time that VT has pulled off a great upset, and risen to the level of their opponent. At the very least, I hope for a great game!:D

I do not just watch SEC games. I watch them all. I was an option QB in college and in the Air Force so you know I enjoy the military teams and GT (I think) who run the triple option. I was the first soccer style kicker in my hometown and I just happened to be watching Jan Stenerude (spelling?) back in the day and it worked. I got offered many scholarships around the country and visited a few Campuses like Clemson but had my mind on other important things such as beer drinking and skirt chasing. I played in the Philippines at Clark AB and after that went to RAF Chicksands in England. I did not know how that happened until later on when I found out the generals were betting big time on football. I was the star QB and kicker and had the old men buying me beers at the Rod and Gun Club in England. I worked at the Post Office at both bases so I was well known to throw some extra junk mail in the butchers box to get a great mark down on my steak. Ha Ha !! Glory Days !! I'm 60 now and feel every hit they gave me. I hit with my helmet first and did the same thing while trying to run over the big dudes. Now my pains give me a wake up call in the early morning hours. C 2 in the neck down to the L's in the back. The weedeater is my enemy. The latest exciting game I watched was the Houston versus Memphis game. I like Colorado's QB along with Lamar Jackson, Christian McCafferey and anyone who puts it on the line. I hate crybabies like Cam Newton now and would spit on Kapernick for his lack of respect. The only time I watch NFL now is when Dak Prescott is playing. Anyway, I am rambling and I hope everyone enjoys this weekends conference championship games. College Football and Music keep me somewhat grounded in this world of pain. Good luck to ya'lls teams and Geaux Tigers for next year or maybe even a bowl game, which is another subject. How many do they have now? Geez !!! Oh yea, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and a special blessing to all our veterans. Now, I have to go get ready and try to get me and my girl some venison. Wish me luck.

I have been a LSU fan all my life. If we had a QB this year, things could have been different. Bad taste in my mouth about the way they handled Les Miles. I will still be saying Geaux Tigers next year.

In any case, it's a great season and it will also be interesting to see what happens with Ohio, Michigan, and Penn State.

You know they are praying that Washington and Clemson win their Conference Championship games convincingly.
While Michigan is a good Football Team and probably deserves the 4th spot as much as anyone it still muddies the water for the committee, especially since a B1G non-champion is already in there.
Should there be a bad performance or a loss then enters PSU/Wisky winner.

I believe they are both ranked a bit high, that's what complicates the whole mess. I probably would have had OK and OK State in front of PSU. It's hard to ignore that 8 game win streak though.

Current Win Streak in the FBS:
Alabama 24- Unbelievable Last loss 19 Sept 2015 to Ole Miss.
Western Michigan 14- While their schedule is questionable they did beat North Western who beat Iowa. Yep, the same Iowa that beat Michigan.
PSU, OKLA and USC tied at 8- The good news about not making the playoffs is that they don't have to play Alabama so they have a pretty good chance of keeping that streak alive going in to next season.

Pitt played a great game and surprisingly beat Clemson in a big weekend of upsets and I think Pitt lost to VA Tech a few weeks ago.
No doubt that Clemson is a great team so VA Tech should be a good game.
I was surprised at Washington's recent loss. First time I saw them and USC played well but Washington impressed me as a quick but small team so I don't know if they could handle Clemson or Alabama so it will be interesting to see how well they handle Colorado.

I think the committee may have painted themselves into a corner if things don't go perfect.

As it is right now if Washington has a lackluster game against Colorado or loses Michigan would more than likely move into the top 4.
That would put 2 Non-Conference Champion Teams in the CFP, oh and from the same conference.
Wait it gets better.
Washington sleepwalks through Colorado. Now I will say this is highly unlikely because I truly believe Clemson to be a good Football team, what happens if VA Tech who can score points beats Clemson?

Part of me wants to see it happen just to hear the stammering committee backtrack everything they have said.

Great games the last couple of weeks and the whole season Ohio State vs Michigan was good and Alabama keeps rolling on!

Folks been pretty quiet on this thread. New polls out last night.
1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Washington

What's your favorite rivalry game?
-Michigan and Ohio, I've been a fan of that one since I was a lad

What school/team do you root for?
-Grew up a Michigan fan, went to school at Oklahoma. I like them about equally but contribute to the OU charities and have the sheepskin on my wall, so maybe a slight edge there.

What school/team do you dislike the most?
-Ohio, Sparty, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Okie State

College football really heats up in Nov. The rivalry games are the most fun. I'm currently watching Mich vs Ohio St and the roar of the 100,000+ crowd is huge on every play.

What's your favorite rivalry game?
The one you watched!!!!
What school/team do you root for?
OHIO STATE
What school/team do you dislike the most?
Michigan

I rarely watch football, and I usually am out on the weekends to pay attention. But I love it when the Buckeyes beat Michigan (regardless of standings, record, bowl berths)!!!!

I went to a college that has no football team....so I root for the school where all my school friends went!!!!

What school/team do you root for?
Was never a fan of College Football, mostly because the school I went to wasn't a big Football School. So, now that my son attends Virginia Tech, I'm committed to the VA Tech Hokies!

What's your favorite rivalry game?
VA Tech vs. Virginia (University of Virginia), we have won the last 12 consecutive meetings. Go Hokies!

What school/team do you dislike the most?
Ohio State and Alabama, just because!

What's your favorite rivalry game?
-I'm not a fan at all of the BIG 10, but I love watching the trio of Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State go at it. I usually root for Michigan in those games no matter what, but those games are usually pretty good. Otherwise I'd say my Notre Dame team against USC or Michigan when we played against the Wolverines all those years.

What school/team do you root for?
-Notre Dame all the way. I'll pull for Clemson, Texas, TCU, and Oregon though in their respective conferences though, but the Fighting Irish are my #1.

What school/team do you dislike the most?
-I hate Ohio State, Penn State and Alabama.

I'm a Texas A&M Aggie...

I knew there was something wrong with you but I couldn't figure it out until now :buttkick: :cheesy:

I'm an SEC brother, Razorback by the grace of God. I grew up with the old SWC and enjoyed those rivalry games against Texass and ATM. Since we joined the SEC in '92 we've yet to win the conference and have only won the West Division 3 times. Life is much harder in the SEC as the Aggies can attest.

We've been struggling mightily the last several years since Bobby Petrino went for a motorcycle ride with a young blonde not named Mrs. Petrino. We haven't beaten ATM in a few years as we seem to start each season slow (playing ATM early in the year) and then finish strong. We haven't had much trouble with LSU or Ole Miss lately, but the early losses have really hurt.

The SEC is trying to start a rivalry between Arkansas and Missouri, but I don't see it catching fire because how can you get angry at a program like Missouri? They're like a little stepchild that nobody cares about.

We get much more excited for our games against LSU, Ole Miss and even ATM. I would like to be more excited when we play Alabama, but we always lose that game even though we've kept it close lately...just can't get over that hump.

SEC overall is down and the Big10 seems to be hottest right now. I was pulling for Michigan yesterday but I didn't watch the game very long because it was over early.

Michigan Man here. The only game that rises to the level of a rivalry game to me is the Michigan Vs. Ohio State game. Sadly, we were beaten by a better team yesterday but we have a bright future ahead of us with JH at the helm.

As a Veteran I also root for Navy and the teams that I dislike the most are Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame.

For me, it was the WSU Cougs v UW Huskies or OU and Texas. Love both games. But brother did the Cougs get their butts kicked yesterday. The Cougs are really an up and coming team and it was sad to see the way things played out. I've watched the Huskies several times this year and I've not been impressed so I was expecting a very different game. I guess that's the thing about rivalries...they are chaotic..

Just wondering:

I'm a Texas A&M Aggie and conference realignment has sadly ended a few big rivalries, like A&M vs TX and OU vs Neb. I dislike LSU a lot so today's game is a new-ish rivalry. There are many great rivalries on today so no work will get done at the MrBowl house today.
