College Football 2009-2010

1. There is no such thing as a real national champion. It is voted on like the different sports league MVP's.

2. Take your OOC. It is determined to be weak by people. If they don't want to establish a playoff then there has to be a way to enforce playing common opponents. One way would be to tell Schools "If you finish in the top 25 no playing schools outside of the top 75 the following year". Yes it hurts the teams from #76 on but I also think it makes them step up their program. If you put in some kind of limitations you would be forced to pick from a smaller pool thus creating some common opponents across the many conferences.

3. Deservedly or not schools are selected for the different bowl games by what they can bring to the party. There in lies the problem for TCU and Boise State. 100,000 seat stadium needs to be filled and viewers need to be watch the TV.

Considering how short his career would be if drafted to QB the wildcat, I'm not sure he would want to stick around till the later rounds. Besides some playoff bound team this year will bring him in as a straight project future QB 2nd rd unless TE. IMO

What do they do if either UF or Ala gets rocked on Saturday and Nebraska beats Texas?

If the Title game was a rematch of UF and Ala it would cast a shadow over the SEC programs. They had a weak OOC and need Texas to come to the party for the Stamp of approval. As far as them deserving...Eh...Undefeated seasons mean nothing. How many undefeated Superbowl Champs have there been.

There in lays the fallacy of the BCS..Playoffs would level the playing field for all the teams.

If I were an NFL wildcat team (hello dolphins) I might take him to run that as QB..

I don't want to see any of the "little" undefeateds (Boise, TCU, Cincy) play for the title. UF, Ala, and UT are the three best and two of those three deserve to play.

And I'm sure the Refs will be favoring Texas on Saturday when it comes to the holding calls, false starts, pass interference...

Tebow as TE... well most NFL TEs played quarterback on at least some level in their past... rec ball, JV, High School... could he do it? sure... will he? who knows. If I were an NFL wildcat team (hello dolphins) I might take him to run that as QB... but not too high in the draft.

Oh yeah, the ducks rockin the buckeyes... lovin it. And I hope they pull out some liberace/elton john type ugly as duck crap uniform while they're doing it too.

... too many pros concentrating on being a character rather than showing character.

I heard on a sports talk show someone bring up the argument that Tebow would be a good fit as a TE in the pros.

I agree with your top 3 Heisman winners.

I'd like to see a TCU or Boise vs Florida or Texas. You want to run with the big dawgs, you need to put up with the big dawgs. Personally, I think Texas is the best team in NCAAF. Just my opinion. I also hope Oregon rocks Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. Big 10 is too overrated. They get a guaranteed 3-4 teams ranked for the entire season so they can go out and waste teams like Youngstown State in D I-AA. Ha, some good 'conversations' on the pick 'em message board about that subject this season.

The more NCAAF I watch the harder it gets to watch commercials... err, I mean Pro Football. What better than the excitement of a game like the Civil War. NFL, those guys could care less and hardly any of them have character either.

Thought this thread was lost without the participation of the Oklahoma crew.... plus I didn't want to bring out the UGA fans so early after their victory last Saturday.

Florida/Alabama is the real national championship this year... but I'm OK with SEC champ vs. Texas... and if the longhorns pull the upset? I'm OK with that too...

but here's the kicker... what if Nebraska beats Texas? do we see UF vs. Alabama again? or SEC champ vs. TCU? Cincy? Boise ST?

I'm kind of rooting for Nebraska here just to get the playoff system talk started again.

Heisman hopefuls: Tebow, McCoy, Igram and that's it... if one of them doesn't win, the vote was rigged.

Pro Prospects? QB: Keenum seems the most polished, McCoy has the quickest eyes and makes good decisions but his mechanics are sloppy -- he seems coachable so, he would be a pretty safe guy to draft if you have a QB in place for a year or two, Tebow? wildcard -- bad mechanics, but is a winner and is coachable (wonder if he'd convert to NFL TE?), Jevon Snead might be a sleeper right now. Klaussen has decent mechanics but gets inside his own helmet too much.

RB: Ingram... like him, he's ready for the NFL now. All other RBs are a distant second (including that Stanford guy) if I'm drafting. caveat: CJ Spiller from Clemson would be a good consolation prize in the draft.

It's no fun playing for a screamer. Sounds like he was a real jerk.

Oregon to the Rose bowl and some good match-ups this weekend to cap off the final week of NCAAF this year. Florida/Alabama could go either way.

I saw that Mel Kiper has Sam Bradford as the #5 prospect in the entire NFL draft. What league has he been watching the past 3 months? Has he ever heard of Claussen, Tebow, Keenum or McCoy?

Here's a name for you NCAAF fans- Brian Brohm from Louisville. I forgot all about him.

The Bills plucked Brohm off the Packers' practice squad on Thursday, signing the 2008 second-round draft pick to a two-year contract. The third quarterback selected in the 2008 draft, Brohm failed to deliver on the impressive numbers he put up during a four-year career at Louisville, where he finished 24-9 and set the Big East Conference record with 9,956 career yards passing.

My favorite QB's this year are Jevon Snead, Colt McCoy and Jimmy Claussen.

The ONLY championships that matter in my opinion are the Big 12 and SEC.

I agree with that, particularly the SEC. We could pit just about any team in the SEC to any of the alleged high-ranked teams and they'd tear them apart. If only their academics were on the same level.

Here's a good game: Iowa or Boise vs. either Florida or Alabama. I don't think they'd be able to stay on the field.

My own personal favorite game: SEC's Georgia taking down UT in the Cotton Bowl in 1984 WITHOUT Herschel Walker. If UT won, they would have been the number one team. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_Cotton_Bowl_Classic

Later that evening, top-ranked Nebraska was upset by number five Miami Hurricanes 31-30 upset. Miami moved past Nebraska and the Longhorns to secure their first National Championship

Could this be the year we see a TCU or Boise State in the BCS championship?

How are 4 teams in the Big 10 ranked when only 2 teams are ranked in the Big 12? How is Iowa in the ranked 15th? Texas Tech would hammer any Big 10 team on any given Sunday. Big 10 is a joke. Today we've got Iowa vs. Ohio State. The team that wins will jump to like #8 but the team that loses will still say in the top 20.

In a way, I'm hoping a team like TCU wins this thing just so the world can understand what a joke the BCS is. The ONLY championships that matter in my opinion are the Big 12 and SEC.

Enjoy this season of Charlie Weiss because for some reason ND fans and alumni think that ND is a competitive football team. These fans live in a dream world. This isn't the 1950's anymore. Tradition is great, but join a conference already.

One thing I love about college football is that no matter what team, the players listen to the coach. I can't even watch pro football anymore and anyone that is a fan of sports probably knows why. Last week Coach Nick Saban from Alabama laid waste to a player after having 12 men on the field. Saban blasted him, slammed the headset down (I love when they do that) waited a minute then went back and hammered him again. Texas Coach Mack Brown got in a player's face when he head butted an opponent resulting in a personal foul. It was a good one minute verbal smackdown on this player for being stupid. You don't see that in pro football. These guys could care less in the pros. It's all about personal records, twittering on the sidelines, being the franchise player and trying to injure the guy with (or without) the ball.

Some good games this weekend in NCAAF though and I'm looking for a few upsets. I'm thinking Texas Tech over OKST and TCU over Utah.

Wow, somebody was smart enough to pick up Chase Daniel. I really liked watching him play last year. Ha, the Browns cut Harrell for Anderson and we all know why Quinn and Szmadja are in the NFL.

I like Jevon Snead this year for Ole Miss.

Re: Iowa

Yeah, they could go to the Rose Bowl seeing that besides Ohio State, they play DOORMATS for the rest of the season. Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota.

Funny you should mention those guys Bullitt... I saw Chase Daniel on the Washington Redskins sideline in last night's game against the Eagles... apparently they just picked him up.

And, Graham Harrell didn't get a spot on the roster after the Browns mini-camp? Yeah, Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson sure are lighting it up, huh? What a joke!!!

Too bad for fans of Sam Bradford but he says he's going to try to go pro in 2010. I don't see it happening for two reasons.
1. Chase Daniel, last year's QB at Missouri who many thought had a shot at the Heisman. (Where is he now? I know a few NFL teams that could use him.)
2. Graham Harrell (Probably should have been a draft pick in 2009)

I don't know about that...Even after the Texas game last weekend, the top pick was still Sam for #1 draft choice....Look for Tampa to pick him in the first round...Stoops was working all his connections to make it happen..so we'll see....Sam gave a press conference yesterday and says he'll need 4 to 6 months to get better after his surgery today......The Timing is crucial for next April.;)

I'm a Buckeye...

After a few years of career jumping, I moved to Southern California.

Woohoo...I'll get to see Ohio State in the Rose Bowl!!!!

Except now...that doesn't mean they had a great season???

Oh well...I'll put on my Buckeye shirt and watchthem anyway!!!!!

I've got egg on my face after a few picks from last weekend. I picked Southern Florida over Pitt, but Pitt won 41-14. Pitt continues to defy gravity with help from their schedule. Next week Pitt has Syracuse which should be a win, but then they play Notre Dame on 11/14 and Cincinnati on 12/5. I'm expecting both of those games to put Pitt back in place.

I also missed on the Michigan State game, but at least it came down the final play of regulation. That ending was a nail biter.

Ohio State only moved up one spot in the poll after beating Minnesota, yet USC stays the same for beating Oregon State. I'm sure we'll be seeing those two (USC/OSU) in the Rose Bowl, so that score will most likely be settled in real life.

How about Boise State? Will this be their undefeated season? Who could possibly stop them?

Too bad for fans of Sam Bradford but he says he's going to try to go pro in 2010. I don't see it happening for two reasons.
