College Football 2009-2010

Big Heisman debates in the media about giving it to Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh or Alabama RB Mark Ingram. I don't think Stanford's RB Gerhert compares to Ingram, especially when it comes to strength of schedule.

I think you're better off not winning the Heisman. Looks like Ingram has a pretty good shot with the sub par outings from McCoy and Tebow, but I still think it's going to Colt McCoy for an awesome season. I wonder where Case Keenum will end in the voting for Heisman. 5,449 yards for the season and 12,728 for his career.

Hey, as long as a defensive back doesn't win it like Charles Woodson in 1997 I can't complain.

You still have the Maxwell, Johnny Unitas and Walter Camp awards which I'm sure Tebow and McCoy will each find solace in if no Heisman.

That BCS slot would have been Virginia Tech's if they didn't lose to UNC (Stupid loss..but their offense was shotty all season). But, the way it is now, I think LSU should have made it. Look at the computers ranking of Big-10 teams, horrible!

Well, I think this past weekend settled who my Heisman winner is (like I get a vote).. and it's Alabama RB Ingram.

-- Colt Mccoy almost cost his team the game by that lax play (shouldn't he be running the plays for LSU?). Colt may end up being a good NFL QB... but that was sloppy.

My ramblin' wreck squad gets to take on a Big 10 team. Wow, big surprise that the polls get two Big 10 teams into the BCS picture. Oh well, I guess it's put up or shut up time for the ACC in ACC/Big 10 arguments.

Seriously though... the SEC gets two teams into the BCS bowls... with UF and Bama... no problem with that.. but wasn't there a more deserving team somewhere else besides Iowa? I don't have a problem with Iowa and the way it performed this year... they had a very good season and if they would have beaten Ohio State, would be in the Rose Bowl... but the Big 10 was awfully weak this year, and Iowa had two losses in that conference... I'll bet a certain Pac-10 team or two plus a couple of SEC, Big East and ACC teams very close in the rankings feel more deserving of a BCS bowl appearance than Iowa.

Oh well, should make for some good bowling this season.

'Bama and the Horns look to be an exciting matchup... I like it. Think I'll root for....... ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!

Not the best game last night. Even Musberger made a comment that Bevo, the Texas mascot, was falling asleep during the the game. Wow, one second left and they pull it off. Remember last year when Texas Tech beat Texas on the pass to Michael Crabtree with one second left?

WOW!..it just doesn't get any closer for Texas... a 46 yard field goal with 1 second left on the Game Clock at the Snap...ending the game with a 1 point winWOW!

Congrats to the Longhorns

Booo-Hooo for the Gators..they were just de-throned by Bama..32-13

Tim Tebow crying after Florida vs. Alabama game on Saturday. After the Florida Gators lost to Alabama Saturday, Tim Tebow sat on the sidelines crying. and the SEC Championship game was at stake. Florida vs. Alabama final score 13-32.:D:D:D

A great ending for today will be IF Nebraska beats Texas..

You to Bullitt, I'll be waiting on that PM.

And if anyone else out there has not read Bullitt and TSP talk blogs today, do yourself a favor, They were very good reads

Without a playoff or a way to force ALL the top teams to schedule some OOC games that are common to other top teams it will always be speculative.

Exactly, and that's what makes it so much fun to have these debates. I'll send you a PM when we do the league again next year. I think you'd enjoy it, but I can't guarantee another year long Big 10 debate. We really kind of beat that horse, and LOL, we never did manage to find common ground.

Yeah, Texas vs. Nebraska. Barring disaster, the BCS game should be a good one- Tide vs. Horns

By the way, it's nice to meet you WorkFE.

just maybe even the ACC.

Thats not the same ACC where the Atlantic Div winner had a loss to a Maryland team that finished with 2 Victories all year.:laugh:

You know I'm just messing around. Without a playoff or a way to force ALL the top teams to schedule some OOC games that are common to other top teams it will always be speculative.

Lets be honest. The league has more patsy's than standouts.

Also I would not brag if I was in the SEC East:laugh:

2nd Place Tenn. lost OOC game to 7th place PAC 10 UCLA
3rd Place GA lost to OOC game 2nd place Big 12 OK state

With out OOC games 4th Place SC and 5th Place KY would not even be sniffing bowl games.

And what kind of joke are they playing on Texas. You got to go play a 3 loss team for your conf. Championship.

But your right nothing but patsies. I'll take Joe Pa in any bowl any time. I'd be living large thats for sure.

It is unfortunate that you believe that I'm am argueing for the Big Ten. I'm not. But if UF continues to get their @$$ handed to them and then IF Texas beats Alabama (NC game), All of those who have had their lips firmly planted on the SEC over the past three will say "best out of three and we win that series" It happens every time we elevate 1 conference as head and shoulders above every body else. Without having a common opponent comparison how is that done.

I look for the fantasy football pick 'em league next year and enjoy the debate. By the way I am a PSU fan and even the years they have won NC's I wonder about other Teams that I thought were dominent but because there is no playoff, did not get their shot as well as the years PSU was undefeated and no shot.
I don't feel bad for TCU or BS. I feel bad for the players, they don't set the schedule.

Work FE, if you were in the fantasy football pick 'em league, you could have contributed to the year long debate. It was actually a pretty good debate with guys who agreed and disagreed.

Basically, all one needs to do is look at how many ranked teams Iowa and 'The' Ohio State played throughout the season. Iowa played one ranked team, Penn State until later playing Ohio State, who always gets considered because high school football is huge in Ohio. (ie: Cardinal Mooney HS, St Ignatius, McKinley). Anyway, big deal, Penn State is a conference game. How can you be ranked 'nationally' when you haven't played out of conference or managed to run the score on any teams? Then they played Ohio State, another conference game. How was Iowa ranked top 10 for so long? As for Ohio State, at least they didn't play division 2 Youngstown State this year.

So you've got Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State and...... Michigan? Northwestern? Wisconsin? Illinois? Purdue? Minnesota? Lets be honest. The league has more patsy's than standouts.

Sorry, but the league can't hold a candle to the SEC, Big 12, Pac-10 and maybe, just maybe even the ACC.

Big 10 is overrated in football

Overrated how. Because of last years bowl record. Tough to judge off of one year plus I actually give them alot of credit in there bowl appearances considering every year is like a home game for their oponents.

TCU's, Boise State's and 2008's Ball State team will have to slate the middle to top SEC, Big 12 and even Big ten OOC games if they want it to matter in the end. That's why USC has their Ohio State match ups now, not enough competition in the PAC. Playing the the middle to bottom of the ACC, Big East and PAC 10 is not getting it done.

That way we can have the debate every season about which team is really #1 in the US.

A debate is exactly what it is. If undefeated teams had some common oponents I could except it as the next best thing to a playoff.

I agree that Boise State should be made to play Alabama or Florida or Texas, or a team of their calibre before we should give them any national ranking.

By the way, either Alabama or Florida will be the number one team this year. I can't wait to see the results of the game. It's the ONLY game that matters. Onward to the Cotton Bowl.

What I always find amazing about the NFL draft is that the guys who get all the hype rarely do anything in the NFL. The guys who shine are the Defensive Ends and Defensive Tackles from schools you never heard of. I hear people say regarding some NFL players, "Oh, he's a hard hitter." Everyone in the NFL hits hard, and I don't think even a guy like Tim Tebow could take too many head on collisions with a guy like Ray Lewis coming at him head first.

At the end of the NFL draft day, those offensive linemen who spend their career in the trenches are the most valuable assets to any team. It's where it all starts. Imagine if Barry Sanders had an offensive line.

Big 10 is overrated in football, but at least those guys play in cold weather unlike the SEC and Big 12. That's all I give the Big 10 though. As for the TCU's, Boise State's and 2008's Ball State team, I think we're better off without a playoff system. That way we can have the debate every season about which team is really #1 in the US.

Boise State is favored over New Mexico State by 47.5 points today, the largest spread all season. I want to be a big fish in a little pond too.
