ChemEng's Account talk...

ChemEng, --I had this happen to me precisely on Friday, and frankly I do not know what to do. On Friday, before 12 EDT, I did an IFT 100% G, but on Sunday I was very concerned that the status remained the same as before, that is, on Thursday I was 50% G, and 50% F. Rather, my intention in the change was to go 100% G in full! I know that I should present some type of complaint, but I have no written evidence of the transfer that I did on Friday. Today, before noon, I went 100% I and made a copy of the transfer just in case. At least the F fund should not drop as much as the stock funds, I hope! What do you recommend? --
Grrr... Some reason the trade I made on Friday did not go through. It still shows me at 100%G. Anyone else ever have this happen or should I just accept it as a fluke or user error?
-------
Disregard. I just went back to the website and it now shows my allocation as 20G, 20S, 60I. I suppose the website was just slow updating this morning. *shrug*

I suppose that there is someone at the TSP website that can verify the history on your account? If they can verify the IFT, then its just a website issue. Im leaning more to it being a website issue since it showed the correct allocation in my account once I went back to look at it.

It happened to me this morning when I logged in my account, my allocation showed the Thursday result not Friday. I did have my email confirmation on the new trasnfer for Friday. But after 1 hour or so (12:30pm) when I logged back in, my allocation has changed and it reflected the Friday change. Now everything is fine. This is the first time that happened.

The email would probably serve as a good confirmation that the transfer *should* have gone through. I would think to wait until Q3 participant statements are released and make sure that that transfer is listed. If its not, then you have documentation...

I did have my email confirmation on the new trasnfer for Friday.

To make it even more difficult is the federal holiday on Monday... What to do? What to do? Im thinking about splitting the I up across the stocks... Got 45 more minutes to decide...

ChemEng --

I don't want to hold you longer than necessary. My opinion is go to G in the next 6 minutes. Others in the I thread, Show-me and nnuut, did it today! Good Luck! --

When in doubt... Dont do anything...

that or I was detained by someone while I was visiting latrine that held me after 1200.

You guess which one... Although my move would have been just to go across the stocks. Its probably a wash either way... (I hope!)

I think I may take the afternoon off to go see The Departed. I love mob flicks and its getting pretty good reviews... Unfortunately for everyone here, there isnt a FedMovieWatcher website to post such valuable information so itll get tucked here.

Nah... Its beautiful in Kentucky today... And same forecast for the long weekend... It may be time to get the clubs out for some time on a course or two...

I hate being a spoiler, and hope you reach the eight hole with a high score, but the North korea thing seems about to heat up! Of course, we have to find relolution to their irresponsible and offensive behavior! --

The risk is that alot of this recent momentum may be short covering which will eventually leave a vacum. It's never to late to buy in just be cognizant of the approaching new all-time high. My plan is to peel off some profits as we head into more new highs - because there is a tall wall waiting. The volatility is bound to increase which makes the S fund more liable to trading ranges and good for gun play. You won't be able to do that with the C fund.

I will probably miss out, but I prefer to remain cautious and stay in G. Seems that we are reaching the corrective stage, and that there might be better entry points. This being October -- and the benchmark S&P500 is at the top of the channel! If I had entered earlier, I would probably take some profits during the potential runaway upside move this week! --

So is it too late to get on the S train??? Or should I wait for it to cool down to buy in again...

Chem,

Have you ever heard the term sea change - I believe we are having one now for an assortment of reasons. And everyday more traders and investors are not believing the current advancing price structure and standing aside and letting this move slip through their fingers in not chasing it. The higher the pricing the fewer shares you can buy and the fewer dollars to be made.

My personal philosophy is: What's easy to do is almost always the wrong thing to do. And what's hard to do is almost always what makes you money.
