'All in the Family' star Jean Stapleton dies at 90

Jean Stapleton, who played Archie Bunker’s long-suffering wife Edith in the long-running 1970s television series “All in the Family,” died Friday at her New York City home. She was 90.

Stapleton died of natural causes, her family announced Saturday.

She had been a veteran of stage, film and television when she was cast in the CBS sitcom opposite Carroll O’Connor’s loud-mouthed, bigoted Archie Bunker, who often addressed her as "dingbat." She won three Emmys for the role.

... Born in New York City on Jan. 19, 1923, Stapleton was the daughter of a billboard advertising salesman and an opera singer.

Bernard "Bernie" Sahlins, who co-founded Chicago's Second City theater and who nurtured the early careers of many of the earliest stars of "Saturday Night Live,"..Sahlins had an eye for talent, and he hired and nurtured the early careers of such future stars as John and Jim Belushi, Joan Rivers, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner and Harold Ramis, among others, died Sunday. He was 90.
 
well there you have it kids, if you waste away your days on sex drugs and rock n roll you will pass at the tragic young age of 74. and it's even worse than it sounds because i hear at 65 you're deaf, too poor to afford prescriptions, and your pecker stops working. talk about a living hell. enjoy it while you can.

good grief, that would just be plain rude. everybody mourns in different ways, apparently yours includes anger. but everybody gets a 2 week grace period after traumatic social events so i'll cut some slack, dude.
