Carnac's Corner

I'm a born again Florida cracker - who needs saving. I enjoy these short trips to the well - I'm still building my base.

I didn't post any recommendation on the latest jump in the I fund this week. CB's saw it happening, but personally, I didn't trust the market...too bad, missed out on some good returns. See attachment ....

The G Fund paid on October 23rd, not the 24th.
Basically yes....but the CB earned that amount in the G to today since the day it transferred in....so basically the date at this point is irrelavent....G is always going to go up, typical of G fund returns wouldn't you say?

Not in the least - the G Fund only pays on a single day, currently the 0.08% you say you earned today. In reality, this rate is the cumulative rate from payday to payday, not for each and every day, and it payed yesterday, not today. Bottom line is - if you don't have it in the G fund on the day it pays, you don't earn squat!

Sorry, I'm new to this board. My last response was directed at Carnac's reply above.

I see what you mean...but the CB have been in the G since the 18th...I just didn't post the days inbetween because it would be worthless to post zero gains day after day. So you can look at it this way, the G payed .08% or so from the 18th thru the 24th.

Maybe that is a better description and will help your critical analysis.

True - sorry if I misunderstood your CB sheet. I gather that you are showing all recommended TSP changes and holding these positions until the next change. Thanks for the clarification.

Hanging tough, no prob!!
I will say this much, the CB's are indicating wide variations in swings for the near future, with a downstroke upon us. Other than that, I would expect to see alot of market manipulation like we have had for the last several days at the last hour.

I have data from 2000 to compare against and besides being about a month off, the similarities are uncanny.....the market was taking drops after Oct 2000 of proportions that would indicate we could see below higher 1300's before year end in the S&P 500 .....

Removing the stops in the NYSE trading is eye opening....you could lose your shirt in one day. I'm thinking that we could get a week or so of severe downdraft and then a rebuild for the next year.

Dollar is having a rising tendency, commodities will drop and the US will get to work again while the third world will have growing pains and the other OS countries will suffer economically as the US economy responds a bit.

I don't want to be in the market for that downdraft. It will be interesting to discuss the timeframe of when it will happen, will it be before end of year or right after the new year???? Right at the moment the CB's indicate that there is dates of interest starting around the 13th of Dec thru Christmas......1300's is quiet a possibility.
