Carnac's Corner

Robo,

Thanks - I hope everyone learns to appreciate the smell of fine superlative manure - it sure helps to make green money grow. I'm waiting on the Transports to top 4900 and bring in the new year with a Primary Dow Theory confirmation.

Re: May 10 revisited...

Bush will Veto any new tax bills!

He doesn't have to veto. He's invented the "Completely opposite signing statement", saying he simply will interpret what ever law the come up with 180 degress backwards.

If dems pass a tax increase, Bush will sign it into law, and then write a signing statement declaring it's actually another tax cut, and give more millions to his buddies- the top earners.

Carnac's Morning Report

All the funds, excluding the F, are on a long term high....C,S Funds could be taken a short break for a couple of days....

F fund is still begging to come up....

Just the facts ma'am.

Fact: the end of July tally had you up 1.55% for the year. http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/showthread.php?p=52321#post52321

Fact: EWGuy started you a new tracker at the end of July and as of the last weekly tracker, has you up 5.02% since that time.

Fact: 1.55% plus 5.02% equals 6.57%.

I love how you just pull numbers out of the air and expect others to believe it............................:notrust:

I wasn't referring to what the Tracker has me recorded for...the gains are that plus what I have recorded since the start of the year....I did that just so I wouldn't run over old tire tracks again ...I was being courtesous...not trying to lie on my results...thanks...

Dumbledore,
first this,

Then this,

So you made well over 7% in the first part of the year when you weren't invested? HAHAHAHA! That's a good one Dumbledore. I guess magic is real.

Yeah I didn't get what I made in May- June counted in the tracker...over 5%....not counting what little I made in April and the pittance I made just before that in the G fund.....be careful SS..........sick....:embarrest:

What you made in May? In May? One of the worst months ever for all the funds. And you warned us of it coming. And you made money? And you stayed out the first part of the year only to get in in May knowing a bloodbath was about to begin and YOU made money that month. Professor please. Just think if it was posted here (like lots of others) then we could all see it. Oh wait a minute. Let me try something. Abra Cadabra! Wow! You're right Dumbledore! I just made another 3% on my account.

Now that I have accepted a role as a moderator, it is my responsibility to try and nip the flame wars in the bud. However, I am not opposed to members of the board calling a statement into question either. I definitely do not want to stifle constructive criticism or discussions.

The “14%” comment, once again raise’s the most common and difficult question of ethics, that we deal with on the board. Which is: is an unsupportable statement deception/lying? There is no litmus test for what constitutes deception, unless it can be proved to be deception. Also, there is the question of intent.

Any statement made on the board falls into the categories of 1) fact, 2) opinion, 3) unsupportable statement, 4) lying/deception. The line between the later two can be thin and is matter of opinion, both the opinion of the moderators and members.

We get many new members here who start out by telling us how great they are and they kick around some big numbers. I am willing to have little latitude under those circumstances, because they are new and they may not realize how seriously we all take the board, and since they are new, they will not likely find themselves engaged in a flame war. But this latitude is limited.

Tech, you have been sufficiently called on this one – let it go and don't try and defend it – I figured out how to delete/edit posts. ;)

Figger you would classify it as lying/deception since you have had a problem this direction since you got bit in the bud in May after I warned you......now you are using position as moderator to dampen remarks....what ethics you have....

It's all about being accountable. Not flame wars.

I understand, that's where the "opinion of moderators and members" comes into play.

You (and others) are of the opinion the statement was a lie/deception. Anybody reading the thread will get that. However, we all know where this road goes because we have been down it more then a few times. Trust me, the point was well made, I don't think there is any confusion about what occurred.
