it doesn't seem upset, i think maybe it likes it. i've had good moves every year since 1985.
 
oooh goody, i can't wait to update the zootracker tonight. but first some housekeeping.

1) i'm changing the name of my system to burro's ark, because we're all in this together. zootracker was just stupid i came up with it off the top of my head. and animal house could get a little too crazy and it's already crazy enough around here.

2) the system is based on monitoring certain public performances on the tsptalk autotracker as indicator species. so rmi is out because his stellar performance is hidden and that's no indicator at all. sorry gwasshoppa, you're off the ark, hope you can swim.

3) annual performance percentages are a cumulative marker of how good any given animal/strategery is running, not a race to be won.

4) i'm adding an 'indicator de risko allocationo' number, or however you say that it spanish. i'm just going to call it 'ira'. it is a relative number from 1 to 5 to show how volatile any person's allocation is at the moment. 100% in the market for elephant carries different weight than 100% in the market for turtle. the higher the total ira the more volatility. when things are volatile, that's when i plan to fire up an ift and make my millions.

5) i consider being included on the burro'e ark index an honor, but i understand it may come off as an insult to some. tough crap.
 
weekend update over on burro's ark:

introducing 'vira' (volatility index risk allocation), a number 1-5 based partially on individual deviance from their personal norm or change in direction from recent holdings, 1 is low, 5 is high, 10 participants equals 50 points max, expressed as a percentage, notated after member name before autotracker performance.

turtle/amoeba: 3, 0.11%, lily pad is a nuetral position for turtle.
mouse/alevin: 4, 0.31%, still has some hanging out in equities slightly bullish.
elephant/birchtree: 3, 1.13%, all in is nuetral indicator elephants have big nuts.
lion/boghie: 4, 1.31%, typical shotgun allocation weighted slightly bullish.
donkey/burrocrat: 1, 2.35%, caught a little wind in my sails but all out and fearing the reaper.
barracuda/dreamboatannie: 4, (0.39%), risque.
racoon/fwm: 4, (6.32%), still sharing the wealth.
cougar/jpcavin: 4, 1.34%, no comment i'd just get in trouble.
wolf/jth: 1, 4.04%, still winning! nice moves for the score this week.
squirrel/pessoptimist: 4, 0.88%, hanging in there stashing a few more nuts.

vira: 32, 64%, i lied about the acronym i only named it this because i've always had a thing for elvira.

of interest is that the first four participant's total consist only of 1's and 3's, and eight of ten participants have a 3 in it, so the lucky number for this week is 3. or maybe it's 1. i don't know, i just call it like i see it.

turtle/amoeba: 3, 0.16%, like a rock.
mouse/alevin: 3, 0.34%, nice flip off the equities and into bonds, good move.
elephant/birchtree: 3, (0.39%), like a rock.
lion/boghie: 4, (0.56%), patient, like a rock.
donkey/burrocrat: 5, (1.14%), ouch, got kicked for minus 4, dumb move donkey.
barracuda/dreamboatannie: 5, (3.65%), exactly as many days in a year, strange.
racoon/fwm: 4, (9.59%), ouch.
cougar/jpcavin: 4, (1.37%), still no comment i'd just get in trouble.
wolf/jth: 1, 4.08%, still winning! freakin' smart alek.
squirrel/pessoptimist: 4, (0.67%), that was the year i was born, summer of love, probably explains alot.

vira: 36, 72%, i still have a thing for elvira.

of interest is that only 3 beasts are positive on the year and two of them just barely by picking up pennies on the sidewalk. then there's that damn jth who always is right, that is irritating. i'll never catch up to wolf this year now because even if i make all the right moves, he won't make any dumb moves or give up ground.

this week sucked. the market is stupid. this is no fun when i'm losing.
 
i am thinking about something boghie said one time, he said why not be in the market most of the time and then get out for the drops. boghie always has good advice. i am thinking about changing my strategery.

i try to watch for volatility and then grab a quick score by being in the market for a few days on the upside. i think i have gotten pretty good at the volatility part, i can tell when it's going deviate and feel it coming, but i suck at picking which way it's going to go. i jump in and it goes down. about the time i get out it goes up or i get out too early and miss out on good gains.

i am thinking of doing something like boghie with mainly staying invested to some degree in several funds, but it would be something simple like a 20-0-30-30-20 mix, and then getting out for a few days when i feel a big move coming not getting in because i always mess that up. but no way am i going for some crazy allocation like 11 or 37 or something, how do you even compute 37? why not 36 or 38? i don't get that part.

i am going to stick with increments of 10, or maybe 5.

i used to drive to missoula, mt several times a year and there was always this one billboard that jumped out at me. it's by clinton, mt and apparently every year they have a 'testicle fesival'. i'm not kidding, it's true. a bunch of folks get together and get drunk and rock out and eat balls.

now i never stopped, i'm not really into that sort of thing, but whatever, to each their own. i suppose it makes sense because when you cut them off the calf so it will grow better to make steaks, the oysters still have some value and are probably loaded with protien so why throw them away? but just the thought of it gives me the heebie jeebies. bunch of freaks as far as i'm concerned.

they deep fry them and stuff. now i've had hot oil on 'em before but no way am i letting them get cut off or dipped in batter and boiled. it's crazy what some people like.

anyways, i got kicked in the rocks hard by the market this week so that is what i was thinking about. besides, how do you order them? do you just walk up to the counter and say 'i'd like my balls on a platter'? that just don't sound right.
