burrocrat's Account Talk

if i ever find a magic lamp buried in the sand and rub it and some genie pops out, here is how i'm going to spend my wishes:

1) i wish the market always goes up.

2) i wish the uhhh, equipment, uhhh, never goes down.

3) i would probably just save for later because if the first two come true i wouldn't need it, now would i?

i'm going to get kicked in the rocks today again i can feel it. but i'm a buy and holder now again until it turns around positive.

with the markets closed may as well wrap it up early and take the rest of the weekend off, burro's ark weekly update:

turtle/amoeba: 2, 1.31%, nice hit and git move for a +1 this week.
mouse/alevin: 3, 0.34%, even steven on the week, 90 to save and 10 to play seems to be the new normal.
elephant/birchtree: 3, 1.04%, like a rock, this guy never budges.
lion/boghie: 4, 0.78%, patient, sensible allocation that weathers storms.
donkey/burrocrat: 5, 1.46%, got some of the magic back and positive again.
barracuda/dreamboatannie: 1, (1.47%), recovered some then locked in a loss.
racoon/fwm: 4, (7.29%), ouch.
cougar/jpcavin: 4, 0.83%, got some of the magic back and positive again.
wolf/jth: 5, 5.84%, still winning! back on the hunt. nice moves.
squirrel/pessoptimist: 4, 0.95%, way to stick it out and recover.

vira: 35, 70%, little change, the market is still hot.

i want to get out on the next up day, but it will all look different after the weekend i'm sure. i may wait until may and try a lion/boghie allocation. wolf/jth is killing it, great timing.

happy easter, be nice to the bunnies, they like it when you bite their ears.

100G cob today.

ok, i'm out again, gonna save some gains i got back.

opposite of jth/wolf allocation is probably not a good idea, i just have a bad feeling about this, and it's the only way i'll catch up. for all the marbles then, i'm out. who wants to retire in style anyways? it's way overrated, besides i'm better at sleeping in the dirt.

"A concern among some investors is that it will be difficult for the rally to continue, with valuations having risen sharply over the past year. In the mid-1990s, however, valuations were only slightly higher. From 1995 through the end of 1997, stocks in the S&P 500 traded at an average of 17.9 times the previous 12 months' earnings, according to Standard & Poor's. Today, the S&P 500 is at 17.4 times trailing earnings."

the difference between me and you birchtree, is that i have nothing to lose.

not that it matters much though, because i'm used to nothing and you don't care if it all goes away. so same deal.

i'm trying to score because i like the game, and the bigger my stack of chips gets the more fun it is slinging them around. you just laugh at the game because it can't touch you. in the end, it doesn't matter who wins but how you play it. same deal. to each their own.

BC, every day on this side of the dirt is a good day! ;)

yep, did it again, got out too early and missed some good gains. at least i'm consistent.

i'm going to maybe go with a boghie-type allocation and start following jth's free service moves, it couldn't hurt obviously, and i'd have someone else to blame.

burro's ark weekly update:

turtle/amoeba: 3, 1.36%, nice save on the gains and back to default holding.
mouse/alevin: 3, 0.42%,a little risk brings a little reward, but that's better than no reward.
elephant/birchtree: 3, 1.35%, the i fund don't seem so stupid now, does it biatches?
lion/boghie: 4, 0.80%, held is his ground, downside defense with potential for upside gain, smart alek.
donkey/burrocrat: 1, 1.90%, popped it for +1/2% but bailed too early, again.
barracuda/dreamboatannie: 5, (3.14%), compounded the previous locked in loss.
racoon/fwm: 1, (6.56%), crawl to the hills.
cougar/jpcavin: 4, 0.53%, didn't retreat but still lost ground.
wolf/jth: 5, 4.95%, still winning! gave back 1% but still way ahead of the pack, and still hunting.
squirrel/pessoptimist: 4, 0.93%, basically even steven, with positive risk gain possibilities.

vira: 33, 66%, turning bearish.

i think by this time next week i will either be flatass broke like i am now, rich beyond my dreams if i hit the lotto, or else in a lion/boghie mix and following wolf/jth's moves. anyways, i'd still be proud to be coming in second place, not too shabby for just winging it.

on a side note: does any math wizzes know how to make the vira of 33, which is an indicator of how far +/- an aggregate of 10 folks are either side of 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 with a total nuetral reading of 30, and min/max range between 10 and 50, more informative than this percentage representation? it is not saying what it means to say, or else i'm not hearing it.

sheet, you're one pretty fart smeller, uhhh, i mean smart feller. it reminded me of something i might would've learned in school if i hadn't been skipping class that day. but it made something occur to me something so here goes:

min 10, max 50, nuetral 30, so a 20 point spread. the count +/- 30 divided divided by 20 times 100 equals percent deviation, and i may suck at math but i got the deviation part down, so there. i'm gonna try that. so 33 - 30 / 20 * 100 = 15% to the good, not as bearish as i thought.

what was the question again?

also for next week i'm renaming 'vira' (volatility indicator risk allocation) to 'el vira' (the volatilty indicator risk allocation) for non-spanish speaking investors. besides, who doesn't like elvira?

and if folks don't want it, they can go make up their own system, suckers.

Apologies Burro, sorry for intruding in your account. I shouldn't be posting\intruding in your personal space. I sincerely hope you can do well with your TSP account and make a good year's end % return and as you say have fun doing it. Adios for now.
