burrocrat's Account Talk

Crap, I couldn't bear to not look any longer, -2.77% just today? And now I'm at -0.04% on the year? ****, I swore I wasn't going to go minus zero this time.

I hate when that happens.

Take control then. Like me. Get DRUNK.

Oh man it's plain now, I got that trade so wrong 4 times in a row. Wish I could have seen that coming 5 days ago.

Burro, I feel your pain. I went negative on the tracker but I am still positive in my real account, barely.

Whew, back on the vertical side of the grass, tracker shows me at + 0.41% ytd. I'll take it. Let's hope that was just a short ride through negative terrortory and we're back to climbing the incline.

Thanks for the heavy bull pull today Birchtree, sometimes I think you can will the market.

And right back to the negative returns side, so fast it's funny, so far it's absurd, I wonder how deep this rabbit hole goes? Once you hit your pain threshold after that all you can do is laugh, it doesn't hurt any more (for me that was the -3% on Monday).

-5% in one day? And not a flash crash but steady and determined selling? hoo boy, you don't see that very often, and we lived to tell about it. When the wind blows and knocks your tent flat like that you just got to batten down and ride it out, smile and grit your teeth, awe and marvel at the overwhelming power that is jerking things around, then pick up some pieces when you get the chance.

When the market does that to me it just makes me madder and I refuse to sell the loss, I'm going to come back and kick it's *** just as soon as I get my legs back under me.

It's a pretty simple equation actually, the worst it could do is go to zero (limited downside), there is every possibility you'll break even and then some (unlimited upside). Pretty safe bet in my opinion, just got have a little fun with the game meanwhile.

How often does -5% happen anyway? One for the ages no doubt. What a treat.

There you go again, talking about the dreary old market. I am down about 2.6% since I left. Including the bi-weekly contribution. Good luck burro. Good luck all.

I thought it was preferred that I talk about the market? Some of my other diatribes (actually monologues) seem to get out of hand. I'm trying my best, boss.

Same here. I was watching with a coworker today, laughing and almost cheering it on. It'll snap back even harder!

US downgraded?

Fights on then, come Monday.

You ready?

Someone's going to get their ass kicked hard, and lose a lot of money.

Well I'm hoping it's going to be the bears, but if it's us longs then at least we'll be in fine company.

Cheer up buddy, we can still move to Greece, I hear they're looking for more workers.

Scratch that whole moving idea, don't go selling everything you have for stowage on a cargo boat. Although I do reccomend buying the Rosetta Stone Helenic package, even if you have to hawk something to get it. Be patient, Greece will come to us. I think we're going to learn to like goat cheese and cucumbers.

Been there, loved the food.

The people...kind of hard to get to know since they generally hated us and our presence in their country. I think most of them just wanted to be left alone. They did seem to prefer us to all of their neighbors and the neighbors buddies.

The people out where I was had no particular love for the city folk either. Mostly olive growers.

Funny how no matter where you go country folk don't seem to like the city dwelling do nothings. Must have something to do with having to work for a living.

You speak volumes there friend. The people are the same, everywhere. East West, Black White, don't matter. Most just want a chance to keep a portion of their labor, and raise their families, well.

What have we become?
