burrocrat's Account Talk

burros-ark update: it's a crazy world. some folks are unhappy so they make other folks unhappy. is that fair? major moves in the market and a tough week to be in. does it go up or down from here? some say go all in, others say get all out, and this was before the religious demonstrations in gay pari. who knows? war is good for business. we lost a rider, turtle, because he turned to the premium darkside, that is to be expected sometimes as people lose faith. i went all in as did some others so we are still trending to the upside, although probably not in the way anybody expected when they pulled the trigger. this is a tough year in the market as buy and hold is sucking hind teat, but at least still sucking teat, there are worse things to do. good luck dirty dozen, chaos is good for the money makers. buy.

burros-ark signal: buy. these are the times that try souls, either you is or you ain't. by the time it is safe and predictable to believe, all the gains will already be had. if you are wrong on the guess the worst that could happen is you lose some of your money, but you probably won't get shot in a french theater so what is to worry about? buy. the ark is going full contrarian buy cob monday. bring it.

housekeeping: down 1 member to 12 and probably won't add a 13th back until new year. there will be some changes to the ark system coming new year anyways. quit? add trading flexibility other than limited to only mondays? add sentitment indicator for world events along with arkers demonstrations of commitment or fear? who knows? for now it is all in and hoping we don't lose our ass. i'll take a good look at it in the end.

At least you have ideas on which animals may fill the 13th slot:laugh:

I kinda like hanging out in the top-100 crowd off and on this year. nice change for me. Maybe I can bump a little higher in the ark-pack before end of the year, we shall see. very-shortterm signals say jump right in, problem is that the sine-wave type indicator I'm using this year is saying it isn't time for that-yet. I choose to wait-for now.

after screamin hot days like today i like to look to get out right away and lock in a good gain, but i am away from computers tuesday and thursday. i would rather see if the market has legs for another up day closer to the ift deadline than pull the cord pre-market so it looks like i am in this trade until wednesday at least for my personal burrocrat account. the burros-ark trade only took effect at cob today as the system only trades on mondays, so it is locked in until at least next week.

i hope this gravy train holds together for a little bit. catchin a tiger by the tail is the fun and easy part, it is way more difficult to tell when to let it go.

i'm entering a pre-market trade to 40c 10s to migrate some gains off the table. i don't normally like half moves like this but it is volatile times and i want to protect the recent score if we finish positive today. i'm not convinced by the futures to leave it all in or to take it all off. i may have a very narrow window to login by phone and adjust this move just prior to ift deadline, maybe not. this is the best defense i can come up with on an out of pocket day.

change of plans, ift to 100g cob today. i hope this thing can hold positive through the close, even another 1/2% would be nice. run baby run.

well, am glad to get out of that trade about break even today and up about +1.50% on a two trading day round turn. the reasons i got in friday were dust when the whole syria/france spat happened, i could find no good reason to stay, and that is when you leave. i will take that lucky gain and get out and ride g fund until December with no ift's left. i don't even care if it rockets up from here, i got mine. thank you market dogs for a gift, this is dangerous waters, careful sailing folks.

dang, i sure missed out on some gravy today, didn't see that coming. i'm still glad i got a little of it earlier and am sitting in safety because all this volatility skeers me and i don't like to play with fire too long. fortunately the ark system is in all week so now it caught a good ride too. but now i'm really worried about tomorrow. no stress on that one though as the system will generate a new signal over the weekend and then that is where it will go.

may you live in exciting times. be careful what you wish for.

Aw burro, you can't cry over spilled milk. You did great with that trade, so be happy. I still need a 20 point gain in both the C and S Funds just to break even on this trade. I'm still hoping to end 2015 in the black but that is just wishful thinking at this point...:worried:

Hey, it's all good. You're in safety and you're shellacking the market. C fund needs 5% to catch you, S fund needs over 8%. Frustrating to leave 1.5% on the table, but you're well on your way to hitting 10% this year. As my hero Bugs Bunny might say, pretty good strag-de-dee..

Do that a few more times, and the burro mic goes silient. Tough to post when you've got a beer in each hand under a beach umbrella.

thanks for the encouragement, keep kicking you'll get there, we all have bad trades and bad months and bad years. but you never really lose until you quilt.

thanks for the kind words, but if you knew my balance you would see it is not going to be cheap beer and beaches for me for a long time, maybe never. i got started late and if you follow the rule of 72, 10% is going to take me 7 years to double my money. i don't have very many doubles left in me even at that optimistic 10% rate. it would have been nice to have realized this a lot earlier when i had more time, but it was only about 12 years ago that i realized i wasn't immortal and would have to start paying attention to this future stuff. becoming a parent will do that to you i guess.

so now i swing for the fences, hopefully with a little bit of informed judgment, but mostly i just expect to work until i die. if i ever get to the point of two-fisted beers and endless beaches then i can assure you the burro mic is not going silent, that is why there are administrative assistants. i'm going to get one who takes dictation and then just conduct my business by verbal command.

oh man, i am running so late this weekend, i'm still trying to figure out what the burros-ark tea leaves say, it's been a crazy week.

meanwhile, my work has a secret santa game they play. you have to write down what you want for xmas and everybody draws names and you can buy as much or as little as you want as long as it don't cost more than $20 total all season. then you leave them on their desk or somewhere they'll find them but you don't never say whose secret santa you are until a staff meeting/dinner at the nicest restaurant in town. pretty cool game if you ask me.

but i work with mostly women so all their lists are the same, they all want kitchen gadgets and chocolate. so i wrote down my list: coffee mug, spoon rest, dr. pepper, cheetos, reese's cups, you know basic diet stuff. and then i added socks and underwear but no ties. also later i added a pasta scoop (the thing with fingers for grabbing spaghetti) and even drew a picture, but somebody told me that is not what it looks like.

anyways, one of the married gals told me she wished she was my secret santa because of the jingle bell underwear ad. then they all laughed and i don't get the joke then. but i think i found out what she was talking about on the internet.

burros-ark update: well, well, well, what have we here, a monster run-up and free money for all? that was a pretty dang good week all things considered. it seems in these days of instant information overload we quickly get used to the new normal. terrorist attacks are bad but it is good how folks respond, fed gonna raise interest rates is good for the currency and what it supposedly says about the economy, but bad for bonds and slow money/long debt (if it costs you 0.25% more than yesterday you tend to not sit on it as long). even the official calls for tighter monitoring of communications and less freedom of movement among the global population to prevent terroristas is being largely ignored, it seems we will put up with a lot to keep our heads blissfully in the sand. those that were in got a good +3% shot to help with the healing, i ran early to defense, and some bought into the positive wave.

burros-ark signal: buy. the system will hold its long position, against every fiber of my better judgment, but that is what the tea leaves say. buy. stay long and strong. this is the beginning of the christian birthday party season with lots of corpulent overconsumption and money changing in the retail temples. maybe brick and mortar has a good year with folks getting out in crowded public places in defiance of fear, maybe digital commerce has a good year as we all like convenience and free overnight delivery of instant gratification, and quite frankly i expect we will see big spending as that is what folks do under stress, they shop to bury their troubles. also there is a lot of money out there in a lot of hands, there dognam well better be as we have been giving it away for free for about 7 years now. either way the patterns will get a positive spin because that is what we have media for, to spin things. and lots of folks will be getting cheap tv's, the better to see you with my dear. so go git some, and enjoy it, 'tis the season. buy.

The Ark says buy, JTH says buy, and Fireweather and Macdaddy took the plunge..3 hours to make my decision..

BTW: Those are some good looking boxers..:D:D:D

Thanks for the Ark noahburro. I like the potato thing.

Way back in the day Mom used to serve boiled potatoes instead of mashed. I loved em. Served plain put whatever you wanted on them (that was available) and eat em. Not sure if it was a cultural thing or not mashing them was a shortcut for a mother of six. Even if that was all that was offered they were yummy and I love them that way today.

That memory probably belonged on the patio or my thread.

Thanks again for the ark.
