bmneveu's Account Talk

i have been waiting to get back in since the 6th. have one IFT left and well watching this go up 3% since then kind of sucks. but i still have the 1.7% and have not lost it. this years goal is to gain 2% per month. once i get there for the month i SHOULD go and do this capitaliztion preservation thing. good luck

Thank you. Our goals for the year are virtually the same. I'll take 24% a year for the rest of my life :)

Hoping for a buying opportunity within the next few trading days so I can use my last IFT and start FEB already invested!

Anyone else thinking about jumping in on this weakness? How much more steam does this run up have?
Ok, I'll go with 1282 as a place where buying may start. A 2 to 2 1/2 % correction would be good for this and may satisfy the Bulls waiting for the dip. If that line breaks the Bears start to win.
This is my edumacated guess.

I'll jump in tomorrow with a partial allocation, not because I want to, because I don't want to waste my last IFT.

A few minutes ago I contemplated going 50 F 50 S just to get in before FEB. But if you cant already tell by that allocation, I'm up in the air on where we're going from here. I would love a few more % gain but I won't risk getting in on the top for it. I'm staying out unless there's a significant pullback before noon.

There was a pretty big pullback yesterday before noon... gap down, further selling, a little dip buying... now, the afternoon was a whole other story.

So, I guess I am curious, Sailor. What else would cause you to IFT?

Good Q RMI. I nearly bought in yesterday but wanted to see 2 down days in a row. Looking back, I don't know what I was thinking! Haha

I always like to hear the reason why someone is going to buy at the top of a long uptrend :D

i am no expert by no means. but if you look back at this month in this year you will see that there were many days where the uptrend was a slow but steady climb. it seemed to go up .25-.85 % a day with no REAL pull backs. so in my opinion only if the market climbs as low as .25 % a day by weeks end it would have finished the week with a 1.25% increase and that is not too bad and if it continued for the week with and average of 4 weeks in a month that could be upwards to 6% a month. now granted this is in a perfect world so for me waiting on the sidelines all month sucked so i put a little in just to get some. have a good day.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. At this point in the market, as short and as strong as this up move has been, AND most indices are in an overbought condition. I would have a tight stop in case of a reversal, and in TSP, I just wouldn't enter... but as you so directly put it, I am also not an expert, and I was curious why he was entering so I could add to my knowledge not slam him in any way at all.

Also, as PermaBull so regularly tells us, a strong bull market can stay overbought for a long time... I am not so sure that THIS is a STRONG bull market, and I will change my tune as soon as we get back to normal volume in the markets...

i wasn't trying to slam him, i am also in the boat of sitting on the sidelines and watching this thing climb slow wishing i never got out in the begining of the month(trying to stay true to my goal of +2% gain a month) but i also was sitting on one more IFT for the month and jumped in before the deadline yesterday with just a litle bit and YES i too really wasn't sure if i should. thanks for your input because i do read you alot and take alot in of what you say so thanks for your help. lets make money! retirement is around the corner for us all.

Market timing is a gamble. No matter what any indicators say, no one knows where the market will go. Two other adages may apply here:
1) "The trend is your friend"
2) "The market likes to do exactly what you least expect"...and so many are still expecting a pullback.

No position is permanent. I'd consider buying here because there are lot of people sitting on the sidelines. We've reached a bit of a plateau in the S&P 1300-1315 range, it could break either way, up or down. It's a question of risk tolerance. If you want to make money on that break and get a good entry price you place a bet one way or another. If you want to follow the break you'll be chasing, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I "chased" into TNA at $52.30 and don't regret it...

...yet :D
