bmneveu's Account Talk

Now considering buying into the F fund tomorrow, at least a partial position. I assume we will be up big from the greek bailout news. I'm also assuming that F will dip as a result, which i'd like to take advantage of. I see us going lower from tomorrow's high, which i'm hoping will make for a nice gain in F. I'm looking at committing at least 50% to F for up to a month. May even go 100% and then move half into stocks on a significant dip. Who knows. I'm even confusing myself as I write this!

Well my morning was swamped and of course my first chance to hop on a computer comes at 12:02. So much for that IFT...

100% F fund today. I predict equities sell off short-term after today. Will look to move my money to C or S in the dip; hopefully before March!

EDIT: Had allocations going to S while the AT showed me 100% G. My YTD is just over 4%, while AT shows me at 3.67ish. Also moved those funds to F. Allocation is still set to 100% S.

EDIT2: I also sold GLD yesterday for about +8%. Not as much as I wanted but still green. Will look to pick it back up when gold gets below $1650/ounce again.

I am still long UGL (very similar to GLD) as I expect gold to hit $1,850 if not $2,000 before a pull back comes. I know those two numbers a far apart, but usually when gold breaks resistance, it breaks it quickly. Either way, nice 8% profit on GLD.

Ah is that the more volatile ETF for gold? I want more leverage on my next gold trade but haven't looked in to it yet.

#443 on AT. I would only be about 15 spots higher if it showed my actual returns of 4%~

Yes, it is.

"The investment seeks to provide daily investment results (before fees and expenses) that correspond to twice (200%) the daily performance of gold bullion as measured by the U.S. Dollar p.m. fixing price for delivery in London. The fund invests principally in any one of or combinations of the financial instruments (swap agreement, futures contracts, forward contracts, option contracts) with respect to the applicable fund’s benchmark to the extent determined appropriate by the Sponsor."

From my Scottrade account. The expanse ration is .95 - which is high, but not terrible for and ETF - and one always needs to be careful of the risk of contango with any commidity fund that doesn't actually hold the physical gold in high quantity. UGL does hold some metal, but is mainly run through futures and options.

Thanks for the info Lacaprup -- and you're avatar brings back memories, haha.

All funds are up today. Is everyone happy? :)

F fund looks pretty safe for now. I doubt I'll get the sizable dip in equities I'm looking for before March, so I may be sitting tight in F for some time.

Still riding F for now. May take my profits to G sometime this week and then jump into stocks soon after. Looking for a bottom to jump in on, but everyone knows how hard it is to time that.

My trading account is long, so today hurt pretty bad. Looking to sell tomorrow's bounce and take a breather.

We're there any questions about TSP Talk. Inquiring minds want to know.
If it felt good, that's usually a good sign.

Took the E-5 Exam this morning. Felt pretty good about it. We'll see!

Good luck. It will be nice to sew on that 4th stripe. I was do mine but I was offered a 6 month early out and took it. One step closer to 3 up and 3 down. :)

Thanks all :)

Nasa, I'm Navy! Work with a few good wingmen though.

WorkFE, no TSP Talk questions on the exam sadly -- I would have smoked that section! No TSP questions at all for that matter. I will throw one question out for you guys though.

Without using search engines!! Which flag is flown in a Man Overboard situation? Papa, Mike, Oscar, or November?
