Election did'nt quite turn out as we had hoped Birch..... Time to come up with "Plan B"... Futures already down pretty big on Draghi comments and risk of fiscal cliff. Hey..... FireWeatherMet and nnuutt took over your Thread!!
 
I'll spend some time in mourning and then life goes on. I'll do what I can to protect my family and future. The socialist browns are taking over - can I get a free Obamaphone? We'll have even more illegitimacy and welfare and crime. Otherwise protect yourself from the coming decline if possible. I'm not making any portfolio changes for the moment - perhaps common sense will prevail as a compromise.

Smart money betting (Intratrade) has Obama at a 69% chance of winning...up from 65% just 2 days ago.

I don't know how to get this thru your thick skull, but what you're seeing today is the market pricing in an Obama victory, and more importantly, a continuation of Bernanke policy.:D

Enjoy the Obama runup...but might want to sell within 2-3 days after tomorrow, since Fiscal Cliff stuff will be coming to a head pretty quickly.

so if yesterday was priced in for an Obummer victory then today must be the price in for a Romney defeat..... i guess history will tell us how bad this president really is with OUR money
 
I, as a fairly young citizen of this country (27), am getting quite disgusted with this country and I really hate to say it. When legalizing marijuana becomes a more important topic than keeping my right to bear arms we have a problem. Hopefully some good happens over the next four years, but I'm not holding my breath. The Republicans need to get some stronger people at the top to run next time around, because hitting the replay button isn't working...

Romney's dismal performance with Hispanics last night, coupled with declining Hispancic vote percentages for the GOP from 2000-2004-2008-2012, all but guarantee that Marco Rubio's presidential candidate stock price is going to skyrocket in the next 18-24 months. His youth and background, and obvious mangneticism to the Hispanic voting block will make him a compelling choice in the next-go'round. Personally, I'm intrigued by Portman from Ohio - one can't help but wonder how the dynamic of the race may have changed if Romney had chosen Portman over Paul Ryan (Portman may have been able to carry his home state of Ohio). Unfortunately, Portman may be a little too old in the 2016 cycle as the GOP looks for the next generation of contenders to emerge. No time to waste. President Obama started his reelection campaign on Jan 21, 2009. The GOP, and the country, cannot afford to be caught flat-footed in the next election like it was in this cycle.

I think it was the opposite - speculation of a Romney win (inspite of highly enlighted remarks of "47%" by Romney, backed even more enlighted and unrefuited Republican anti-abortion statements made by other party members) and a Obummer loss.

Today, the market is simply communicating, generally, its reply to the Nov 2012 results.

Corporate America certainly doesn't like redtape (penalty/tax) or ObamaCare tax & penality. But, don't worry, there are several roads around the "fiscal cliff" to a budget - lets just hope it not the "Thelma and Louise" route. Do you think they're really that stupid!?
 
This should have been a slam dunk election, but the youth of America is far more educated and accepting on social issues that the baby boomers just can't let go. RNC is stuck in the 1950's. Throw in the party's stance (or perception) on immigration, science, and minorities and the party is doomed. They will continue to alienate future voters. Keep the fiscal conservatism, throw out the rest. Huntsman would have done much better than Mitt.
 
There is a strong possibility that the Obama win may push more dividend income in my direction - so that's a small blessing. Very interesting for sure.

Sorry BearTrap, but they will lose the youthful fiscal conservative also to the libertarian party. The youthful vote of today does not want to be told what to do, so they will never except the Republican parties attempts to legislate morality (war on drugs, anti gay marriage, etc.). They will either become democrats or libertarian's depending on their fiscal policy views. If the republican party wants to survive they will have to except Ron Paul's following.

The Ron Paul's and the Gary Johnson's of the political world very well kept Romney from winning Florida and Ohio (or at least damn near did). The votes that Gary Johnson siphoned from the GOP ticket were disheartening. In my neck of the woods idiots were still plastering Paul and Johnson signs around town up until election day. Paul and Johnson supporters live on another planet devoid of reality.

Higher taxes on a weak economy will bring a recession - I survived the last one and will live through the next one. If Obama doesn't compromise it'll be his constitutency that wil suffer, so bring it. An unemployment rate of 15% would cinch a Senate change for 2014. So I'll hold my cheeks and wait for the rumble as the wall of worry builds and golden prices come into view.
