I just finished my buying on today's lows: AA, AIG, BCS, C, NCC, WB, RF, WFC, BAC, SOV. We'll see if I can catch a few tomorrow also.

I hope your daughter likes Hawaii as much as my wife and I do. She has a lot of great scenic places all around her over there. She picked a meaningful profession and I wish her well in her career. I just returned from Bahrain, Yemen and Djibouti TDY (DOD civilian) last week Monday and am so thankful for the country I am from and the places my wife and I have lived. We are in Naples, Italy now after moving here last Nov. We have return rights to Hawaii in Nov. 2010.

I like everyone else would like to catch the bottom as an entry and of course the 90% solution would be fine. My thought is that as this plan is unfolded this week it will boost confidence and the market will rise. I am so careful I often end up in analysis paralysis. Last week I moved decisively and it worked out. I will be looking to get a percentage of my account back in during Oct. if I see the market move below 11,000, 1200 S&P and may hold out and wait and see what happens around 19 Oct. timeframe. With the government plan coming out this week and with the fairly good oversight built into the plan I am unsure if the market will be going back down anytime soon. I am not very keen to a political appointee with as many Wall Street ties as our Treasury Secretary has running the 3 page plan I read but by the time it is agreed to the plan will have more checks and balances. There is a lot of money looking for a place to go with interest rates where they are. HH

It sounds like things are going well. I'm thrilled for ya. For now I'll check in here and there and on days like this shugg my shoulders and when things take off I'll be on top of the world.

I tried to encourage the "Buzz" to take airborne training so she could join up with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and be stationed in Vicenza, Italy - but she refuses to jump so is happy with the 25th Infantry Division pushing sand.

You'd mentioned she was due to go to Iraq in "the Fall" and over the months I've kept her in my thoughts and prayers.

Is she heading out soon?

She will not be deployed with the rest of her company in October. She has been chosen to be the rear guard company commander for the first six months and will be available for deployment after that if necessary. If they need her she will deploy, otherwise she remains the company commander until they all return. Hooah!

Does her time as rear guard company commander also count as deployment time? Just curious how that works...

No her time will not count as deployment time but as regular service time. If she goes to Iraq for her remaining six months that will count. She realizes her good fortune and is prepared to perform this job. That will really add to her experience. Normally a member would have to attend a captains course to get this type of assignment.

Oh yeah, shes way ahead of the curve in that aspect. Just got to make sure to get that deployment time in there when it comes available to pad her OERs.

That's wonderful Birch - and really puts my heart at ease.

Sounds like things are really working out for her; let's just hope her husband (to be) continues to love and honor her as he discovers her more fully over time.

She already has more than fifteen months of deployment - during the last cycle she had to stay behind for two extra months while all the equipment was loaded on the ships.

Corporate insiders are still bullish and buying their company stock, as a matter of fact, they've been buying all through 2008. They are as bullish now as they were at the July lows. Prior to the July lows, the last time corporate insiders were this bullish was near the end of the 2000-2002 bear market. This may only be predictive at the twelve month horizon. This encourages me to keep on buying at these delicious prices. The bear market of 2000-2002 ended after a long term positive divergence indicating slowing selling momentum and the same scenerio is in place now. There is a long term positive divergence on the MACD.

You might be able to pick your price tomorrow. This market is going down another 700 points tomorrow. That bailout was a joke !!! It won't happen and imagine Paulson actually united Dems & Repubs something we have not seen in a long time.

The market may actually be up 700 points; Buffett is throwing $5 billion at GS and JC Flowers is buying a small bank - that demonstrates recognition of value in the financials. I'll take it either way. Anything I buy now will be much higher a year or three from now.
