Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I've done considerable buying this year every time we hit a new low and now I'm paying the price as all these positions add to my pain level - but you just have to own assets when things begin to turn around. I'll be there - so far wrong but still long.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

You are whipped. lol Hope it all goes well and they have a happy long life together. Watch out for lightening bolts in church. If you start feeling static RUN!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Well, he certainly is a reasonable young man and a patient one at that - it didn't take him long to realize he was in love with a princess. The first time he bought her a cheap piece of jewelry she unloaded her rath and that's really my fault because I spoiled her in that department - it has to be genuine and real. If this foolish market keeps going down I'll have to hit him up for a loan. I'm actually waiting for his mutual funds to rebound so I can place him in some individual stocks.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Ain't she sweet. There are some strings attached though: I have to go into a church while my daughter gets married and I'm not to raise any ruckus and I also have to dance as well as walk her down the isle.

Your wife sounds wonderful Birch - she sounds like the perfect fit for you. I hope the wedding goes better than anyone could wish for and that many years of happiness flow with it. Take a handerchief, please don't forget that. When my father in law walked Ann down the isle I was moved to tears. It was my most beautiful moment.

Anyway - I hope the very best for you and all.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Oh, what a day. I spent most of the day being productive. My good news is that my inhouse banker (wife) is lending me $30K to buy stocks during this firesale - that means I won't have to sell any assets to raise cash. Ain't she sweet. There are some strings attached though: I have to go into a church while my daughter gets married and I'm not to raise any ruckus and I also have to dance as well as walk her down the isle.

Birchie, you're going to have a great time. go with it, be happy. ;)

Birch, think of it as a nod (dance bow?) to tradition, and a tradition that gives a nod to you as the father, as well. So strong are these traditions that if you *didn't* show up and dance, you know what that means. :worried: Anyway, you want to be there, you *really* don't want to miss this. :D

Especially since YOU are paying for this fandango (traditionally):D:D

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Will somebody please take me down off this cross.

The cross you bear is providing love and stability for your wife, daughter, and future son. It is bearing the honor and priviledge of serving your clients with sound and growing investments, so over the years they will be well cared for. It is using the same ole styrofoam cup - instead of needlessly wasting money. Lastly (and equally important) it is being someone your little brother can count on - and all the other MB members too.

If we took your cross - you'd have nothing to live for my friend. Carry it with the same dignity you carried yourself on Paris Island and beyond.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I've been doing a little dollar cost averaging today into the stock market both for myself and a few others. I bought: AP, ALY, AE, AES, ABK. I've got more on my list but they will wait for another day. The natural instinct of all of us is to seek safety and shelter, unfortunately at the exact same time when we should be aggressive and risk tolerant - this is what makes a market.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

It is truely a day of celebration :)

I'm thrilled for ya Birch :D:D

It's way better than I expected...like all of a sudden the clouds parted and the sun is shining through.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Watch spot run - the squeezer is on.

Birchtree,

Whaaaaat a squeeezer in the Financial sector - I'm not sure how much you made on Financials today, but I'm sure it was a bunch. Now, you might give it all back tomorrow with another 500 point sell-off, but the bottom line is:

Financials must be part of the next Bull Run and they will have some of the best gains. Very Sweet gains! How sweet it will be, when I can smell the manure coming into the Bear cave.

You see, even though I short from time-time, I'm not hoping the market will go down like many others are. I happen to know a few folks that are currently long in the stock market and some have even sold the last few days. Yeah, go bears, go bears, put another company out of business.... CROOKS....

However my friend, I'm still playing by Bear market rules, but we are getting closer to the running of the Bulls...

Take Care and stay out of the Bear Threads after this Big Rally.... Your time is coming again...

Not posting much in the Bear Cave these days with prices this low. Most of my Boyz are lining up on the bottom and the Panic Button is off the charts. Shiiiit, folks removing money from insured money markets @ 2% into T Bills earning zero. Yep, the herd is scared my friend, very - very- scared. It's my favorite time to buy the most hated sectors.

I’m going to stop by and see Bullitt later, but no post in the Bear Cave today. Down 500 tomorrow again? Maybe! Heck, that just might be Bullish if it’s a test of the lows and they hold….

Take Care!

Robo

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The Dow had a 1200 point volatility swing today - just amazing. To add perspective to current market conditions we have had 11 bear marets since 1960 with each followed by new long term bull markets - investors are always faced with intensely negative news and many times a crisis atmosphere which leads to our temporarily lows, bull markets usually begin in the middle of all the bad news. Historically the bull markets reward investors with gains on average exceeding 90%. Not to sound too tendentious but you have to be in to win. But the fear level is very high and on ly the gallant should attempt to ride the thunder.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

If the 9 month cycle has already bottomed - a significant bottom may be behind ua as some of the MCSUMs have already suggested back in July. What the bulls want to see here and now to strengthen this possible initiation phase of an uptrend is at least 1500 MCSUM data points from the July lows. If we can get that there will be no looking back. A move above the +500 level during this period would close the door on the bears. You just gotta love the holding strength in the Dow Transports - up about 11% from the July lows when everything else is down - the economy obviously lives and breathes. An SPX of 1437 is not unrealistic within a month should banks continue their rally rebound. If we begin to see some write ups in 3Q the shorts will definitely bleed the color of red.
