Birchtree's Account Talk

I was waiting until the "I" fund went lower so I could jump in. Didn't expect for it to bounce this high so quickly. I think I missed out.

The bus travels faster with fewer on board. Here comes the rebound - hold on.

it will go really fast on the way down the other side of the hill!
Good luck to you, my perma-bull friend! you got that spot cleared out in the garden for the bull statue?

Yep when your about to vomit and your tellin yourself youir krazy, THATS the time.

BTW Birch, good call in movin more to the I Fund earlier this week, yesterdays 3% was sweet eh!

If the momentum holds today my oceanic will actually show a profit on the week. I've moved up the tracker back to #248 from #476 and will make further gains. I plan to hold my I fund until a price of $21.50 and then take back some of the C fund.

Ferdinand will take care of me today so in about an hour I'm headed out back to my "sleepy garden walls" for more work. It's such a lovely day here in north Florida. Finally some of the bank stocks are coming through with dividend increases and stock buy backs.

Birch - I've heard about companies with lots of cash on their balance sheets weighing M&A, increasing their dividend and/or stock buy back.

I understand the M&A and the dividend but what benefit is there for the stock buy back?

TIA! :)

It has been beautiful the last couple of days. Went geocaching with my other son at UWF. They have some of the most awesome trails. Saturday and Sunday should be great beach days at Fort Pickens.

Kevin,

When a company buys back their own stock they end up with fewer shares that need to be divided up into earnings per share and thus can report higher earnings per share. Plus they add more shares to their treasury in possible anticipation of a takeover.

Cool! Thanks! :)

Birch, FWIW, I just saw CAT's report that none of their Japanese facilities are damaged or in the nuclear plant zone. And analysts are boosting their rating because of their strong Asian presence and how much the company will be needed during rebuilding.

Don't know if you already own some, but I just got some more. <grin>

Quite an interesting week.

Here's hoping those TSP'ers 'all in' get a nice, quiet or perhaps even good news weekend leading into next week's Initial Claims and GDP reports. The markets had some nice gains today but was light on volume and couldn't close above the 5 day EMA. Not exactly an encouraging sign. Then again that just leaves more consolidation time for the lucrative road back to the top.

So while Birchtree & the bulls are licking their lips, I'm expecting more ping-pong action and sideways movement before a breakout.

Bull markets do not like company, the market will do everything it can to make the majority gun shy and keep the bears from recognizing the prevailing trend. The A/D line is not diverting, and it's very rare the price will top without A/D divergence. The bull market will power higher as long as people (mom and pop) don't start buying into it in droves and as long as the prevailing belief is that it's a cyclical bull within a secular bear.

Agreed...but did you coach the folks at CNBC this afternoon? I heard the same comments from 2 of their "floor" analysts around 1:30 (central) today. Their estimates had us back at the recent highs by the end of March. Hope they, and you, are right! Have a great weekend!

Well goodnight Birch !

Gosh, I'm about half asleep

Hey listen - don't let the next week and a half get ya down ;)

That's what the Lilly Pad is for and heck as long as I'm there I could care less. :toung::D

Anyway -- I figure a few more weeks I'll get a better feel for the next 3 months and make another play
