Bear Cave 2 (Bull Allowed)

I like coffee and I'm always looking for new ways to make the perfect cup. My wife uses a plastic dripper like the one you mention for her on-the-go one cup needs. I've tried a French press, drips, and recently I bought a couple of old 1950's stove top aluminum percolators that that not only makes pretty good coffee, but it's fun to use. I like to watch the water shoot through the tube up to the clear glass cap so you can see when it's done. Many of us here are old enough to remember them, but some of the younger folks may not have seen a percolator - unless you take one camping.

The one I use now looks a lot like this one.

I also collect old coffee grinders and they work well for the percolator since the grind needs to be pretty course.

It's nice being retired now so I have time to slow things down in my life. Taking my time and making a good old cup of coffee in the morning is one of my new favorites. No need to rush, and the taste is much more important to me now then caffeine was in the old days to get me going. Once the coffee is done - 15 seconds in the microwave takes it to the temperature I like. My wife likes hers more on the warm side then hot. It might not be the perfect cup of coffee, but it sure beats most coffee makers that's for sure.

The very first thing I inspect and make sure is in the travel trailer before I head out for my weekend get aways. That and fishing poles. :D
I love those old aluminum percolators, when you use them over a fire you get the feeling your on a cattle drive.

Nothing like the sound and the smell coming from those old pots in the morning. Brewing some fresh coffee and cooking up some bacon on a camping trip before you go fishing was a good way to have some quality family time in my opinion. Most kids don't go for that these days......

It looks like a gap up for the gold miners this morning.....I had limit orders in to buy additional shares of (NUGT and JNUG), but placed the limit orders to low. These shares will be added to my short-term trading position.

Good trading.

Added some shares of NUGT, but I had to pay up to get them. I missed the pre-market sale.

A good sign if it can hold.....

"Yesterday the BPGDM finally gave a buy signal. The buy signal is triggered when the price of the BPGDM is higher than the 5 dma and the 5 dma is higher than the 8 dma. This is the alignment you want to see."

It doesn't mean it's straight up from here, but what it does mean is that I will keep buying the dips, and adding them to my position trade and not selling them so quickly. I'm still of the opinion we are close to a multi-week rally, but that doesn't mean we will not have pull-backs.

Good trading.

Gold Breaks Downtrend, Sort Of

Whether this sign of a downtrend break is going to turn into a real live uptrend, or just a brief pop and fizzle like the last two, is not something that this difference in behavior tells us. All it says is that there is a disagreement between the dollar price of gold and the euro price. History says that the euro price is nearly always right during such disagreements, so I expect that to be the case again this time.

The Herd

Prudent investors should keep in mind that the stock market has always been cyclical and will always move to extremes in either direction. Long periods of uninterrupted gains suck in the naïve, ignorant, envious, and greedy multitudes that create excesses of risk sufficient to set off the avalanche that eventually wipes the slate clean again and returns stocks to their rightful owners. Today's optimism is approaching a near-certainty that the Fed will continue to support the market for years to come, making serious risk a thing of the past. This is not good news for buy-and-hold strategies which have to endure whatever the market dishes out on the inevitable downside of the cycle.

Junior Mining Stocks Have Bottomed
By: Jordan Roy-Byrne | Thu, Jan 16, 2014

There is no need to beat around the bush. Junior mining stocks have bottomed. The bear market is over. Sure we could be wrong. We've been wrong before and will be again. However, the evidence is too compelling and is growing by the day.

Extreme bearish sentiment, compelling valuations and an extreme oversold condition can create a compelling contrarian opportunity. However, that opportunity can remain far fetched without some positive price action. We now have the positive price action that allows us to call a bottom in the mining stocks and strongly so in the junior gold stocks. The CDNX looks to have made a real double bottom and closed at a nine month high. GDXJ reversed course after failing to continue a breakdown when the time was ripe. Moreover, as evidenced by our top 15 index, the stronger and higher quality companies are showing leadership. The risk has shifted from getting caught in a final plunge to missing out on the rebound.

Good Luck!

Market's closed. Intel disappoints. Back to coffee. :)

I guess all that matters is that you enjoy what you make, but in my search for that pefect cup, I've heard there are 2 big no, no's with coffee. Never reheat in a microwave. Don't use boiling water... use 190 - 200 degree water to brew.

I have friends who own a small coffee shop franchise here in northern Utah and I try to pick their brains. Their coffee roasts are much better than Starbuck's and they have been impressed that I am able to pick out the better coffees from taste tests. A lot of folks use so much sugar, creamer, latte, frapazoids, etc. that they can't even taste the actual coffee. :)

Thanks for the tips.....

I have had a very nice run for many shares of my JNUG that I held for a trade. Time to sell, and if they go higher, that’s great…. because I’m not selling any of my GDXJ shares. I'll look to buy back JNUG for another trade if the set-up looks good. If you are wondering why I'm selling when I'm Bullish......I don't hold 3X indexes for position trades. Sure, I think JNUG could go much higher today, and I'm leaving money on the table.....However, I have Risk Management Rules and holding 3X indexes for a position trade is something I just will not do. It's nice when the trade goes well, but when it doesn't, it's very hard to hold your position....been there and done that.

Good trading.

will gold punch through $1250? or will it retrace some. I am pondering picking up some DUST for a quick trade if gold continues to stall here.

Taking a short-term trade with DUST could be a winner Brotherman.......I just sold my NUGT also...

Good luck if you take the DUST trade.

I just my sold my TZA for a loss....I didn't sell because I'm bullish on the stock Market. The action is way to slow for me as the stock market grinds higher. My trading accounts are for fast money trades. I'll be looking for another short set-up.

Flat in my trading account and waiting....

Good trading.
