Aviator Guy's Account Talk

The markets released important reports this morning:

PPI (Producer Price index)
Consensus less energy .2%, Actual = .0%
Consensus is .7%%, Actual = .7%

Retail Sales
Consensus is .4%, Actual = -.2%
Consensus less Auto Sales is .4%, Actual = .0%

Business Inventory:
Consensus is .4%, Actual = ??? still waiting, but less is better.

Good news, oil is still less than 64, PPI is good and indicates the fed policy is working, Positive comments from Greenspan saying recession is not very likely, Large drop in OSM last night along with the huge drop wed night making it a 3 week low.

Bad news, investors are nervous after the last couple of days, and Retail Sales indicate a downward trend.

The OSM’s are watching our USM very closely. Any move up will have a positive impact on their markets. I think the recent market moves were a little too dramatic. I will be in very short term to limit my risk. I still haven’t seen the Business inventory report, but unless it’s bad, I have decided to move into the “I” Fund from the “G” fund. Good luck with your TSP investments!

Outstanding report from the street with Business inventories decrease .1% and Sales rising 1.4%.... These are great numbers and should help the USM and OSM rise. Good luck with your TSP investments!

TSP Site computer down this morning? So, staying with Geeee Fund this weekend... Sent using my Treo... Have a great weekend Ya ALL

This report was sent prior to the TSP cutoff today and might spook the markets. I missed this one, but will take note that the CNN reported it first. I didn’t see any mention of it on Bloomberg. Moving two carriers close to Iran is significant. You can bet they are on high alert status and have at least two fighters on their catapults, each one on Alert 5 status. That means the crews are on high alert. Pilots in their cockpits ready to launch in 5 minutes with a full load of missiles. This could be a wild ride for the markets, especially this weekend. I missed this one and might be paying for it later, time will tell.

From CNN…
Two U.S. aircraft carriers plan on sailing close to Iran after report says country ramps up nuclear program; U.S. gasoline supplies rise.

China is looking for a reason to sell-off. Also Goldman Sach's comments several weeks ago were waiting for this about China.

Would y'all consider buying any refiner stocks before the close today based on that news?

I AM GLAD TO SEE YOU HAVE A TREO. I GOT MINE 4 DAYS AGO BUT DON' T HAVE A GOOD GRASP YET. IT IS A GREAT TOOL THOUGH.

I use the Treo 700P with Sprint and it really works great. The internet speed is faster than my old Treo 650. I want to buy the new Treo 755P which just came out because it’s suppose to have even more speed. I have moved my TSP accounts around using it because I’m on the road a lot. I also use the Excel spreadsheets with the Treo and it works great too. Good luck with your Treo, I will let you know how the Treo 755P works when I get it.

If Iran dares to drop heat on our troops in Iraq we will carpet bomb Tehran from Guam and turn the place into Hamburg, Germany. They simply gotta be smarter than that.

Aviator,
Thanks for your offer to keep me posted. I bought a Treo 700wx with Verizon because I wanted an operating system and explorer from Microsoft similar to my home p/c, my work desktop, and my laptop. It is my understanding that the TreoP operates with a Palm system. It is supposed to be fine, but it is easier for me to work with similar systems without significant differences. Good luck to you also!

Their entire culture and thinking that exists today goes way back 1000's of years and not much has changed since. This Neandrathal thinking that has progressed through the generations of their culture will continue as we are seeing today.

This isn't about smarts, this is about who and what they have always been and when their patience run out, which they have plenty of, then the Doo Doo will hit the fan.

We have to think contrarian and straight forward here. If we know that their thinking goes back to the year 1000 or perhaps 650 AD, then we must press on to confront them early on. Europe and America trascended religious persecution of the Middle Ages, and we now we generally have separation between church and state, after the Protestant Reformation took place. But the radical islamists have not evolved, and are obsessed with the idea of establishing islamic religious governments. Can we let this happen without opposition. IMO, no! Their aggressive policies would throw the known world into anarchy, if they were allowed to develop nuclear weapons with delivery systems. There are no easy choices, but this one can't be swept under the rug and hope it goes away.

Good news overall on markets as follows:

Good, new jobs claims 331K vice 310K means a stable job market, orders for durable goods increased .6% and the March reports were revised upward, 2nd largest Telecom Company in UK reporting profits that doubled its estimates.

Bad news, > 65 Oil, Mr. Greenspan’s comments on the Chinese market bubble and moving two carrier task forces near Iran.

New home sales report will be release in about an hour. The consensus is 860K.

I moved from 100% “I” Fund to 100% “G” fund today, so it’s going to be a really tough day for my account. But, if the herd responds this way to good market news, can you imagine what they would have done if it were bad??? If it turns south this afternoon and carries into tomorrow just prior to the cutoff, it might be a good time to jump back into the pool. Anyway, I decided to jump out to protect my tiny stock gains for the month. Good luck with your TSP investments!

Investing has never been for the faint at heart, today is another example of it. If it were risk free, everyone would be in the markets raking in huge gains. For me, the tremendous gains in stocks long term will always outweigh short term risks.

I pulled the trigger too early. It looks like I will take about a 1% loss today in the “I” fund, assuming no –FV. If this is correct, my 2nd Quarter earnings are still over 4 %, so I grateful for the overall 2nd Quarter gain. The big decision is if I want to jump back in COB Friday!

I think the herd might run from the USM tomorrow with the OSM following. It will be really interesting watching how this might unfold prior to holiday weekend. Those in stocks over the weekend might be a little nervous with what happened today and possibly tomorrow. I will be taking a close look tonight and tomorrow.

Anyway, I will take my losses today and hit it again another day. Good luck with your TSP investing!

Looks like we’re off to a good start yesterday!
