Ask Lucy: Practical Advice for the Modern Man

Well, Hurricane Iselle is for real ! I took everyone's advice...just finished taping up my windows and removing everything off the lanai. I have water, food, cash, batteries and tp. Car is filled with gas ,but after I pau work tomorrow, I'll top it off. I'll charge my cell phone if the electricity is still on when I get home. Oh, and I'll fill up the bathtub before I go to work. *sigh* I really don't want to go through this by myself. I'll admit I'm a little frightened. I just keep telling myself I've been through tougher situations before, I can do it one more time. waaaaaaaaaaa ! :o I've attached 2 before photos taken from my lanai tonight...We'll see what the view looks like tomorrow evening. A hui hou !

Good luck Kona. We will be praying for you!

now i've never been a general. but if i was, i would order the cooks in the mess to make the tarts less bitter.

We just had a 4.5 earthquake that shook my condo building. Sweet baby Jesus, get me through this weekend !

What next ?! Sharks flying through the air ?

Hang in there kk, sounds like you're prepared as you can be. My sis lived through a couple in past 10 years, not fun. lingering aftereffects that took awhile for her to recover from. financial and emotional, to certain extent she never has recovered from some of the financial impacts.

Lucky I live on the west side of the Big Island. Most of the wind and rain damage was on the south and east side of the island. The mountains of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa broke up the system which lessened the impact for me in Waikoloa. We are getting some rain and winds, but nothing like anticipated. Phew ! The post offices are still closed today and will resume operations tomorrow .
Yipee!!! now I can go back to sleep. Thanks again to all those who said prayers and wished me well. Julio is still going to bring some rain, but I don't think I need to be concerned.

Mahalo !
