Ya'll may be interested to know that not all agencies deposit into TSP on the 2nd TUESDAY of the pay period. I work for the MMS and ours is deposited on the first FRIDAY of the pay period. Wonder what the agency is doing with that 1 week interest they're earning on our money?

And I wonder if it's legal for them to hold it that extra week before depositing it?

Along these same lines, if you change your tsp contribution percentage or $$ amount, how long does it take to be effective? Mine is the next pay period so that could be well over a week. My buddy who works for the State Department (usaid) said he can change it right before the pay period end date and it will be effective immediately. So if he sees the market tanking he'll up his contribution before pay day so he can buy in cheaper. Could be a nice feature.

Nice call James, looks like 1490 got hit a bunch of times and held up...looks likes this correction is over...rally on....

The good news is that 1490 held twice today on the S&P. That is a good resistence, but I want to see if it will hold the rest of the day. If it does, then we are in good shape. If it doesn't the downside is great. The real hard stop floor isn't until down around 1400. There are a couple of price points between 1490 and 1400 that may act as breaks. 1450 being a solid one also.

On the other hand, if we get a good third test of 1490 and then it goes up by the end of the day, that may be a sign we've bottomed, and a turnaround is just around the corner.

I'm not anxious to jump back in until I see more solid evidence. I got burned in the July debacle by jumping back in too quick.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....

My 2 cents.

I work for the Department of Army (not Corps of Engineers). The designation doesnt grant any particular career path or promotion, but is a very good differentiator to have when competing for future jobs elsewhere.

Z, I'm new to this blog and was told to view this one. Do you post your moves in time for someone to follow you or at least consider your advice?

I usually wait until the last few minutes to post here because I have a lot to look at and do near the deadline. But if you read this thread or my account talk thread, you'll have an idea of what I'm planing on doing.

My account talk thread:

I'll try to post a little earlier if I can. I never thought that anybody would care about my moves since I'm having such a terrible year(been playing it too conservative). I'm barely beating the G fund.:D

Btw, welcome to the board.

hey, we have plenty of PE at EPA, and I know the Corps of Engineers have a bunch of them as well. Any agency that deals with construction will have them. Hot commodities!
