12% can you please tell me how you are getting the -.41 %? My spreadsheet is showing the MSCI EAFE at-1.24%. Perhaps there is a calculation I need to know.
Thanks

12% is quoting the official MSCI EAFE. It's the official I fund daily gains/losses. Which can be found here: http://www.msci.com/overview/index.html

People,

If you're quoting estimates from a spreadsheet, do not say it's the MSCI EAFE. That should be reserved for the official I fund. You should also say which spreadsheet you are using. ie. ChemEng's spreadsheet or Jayhawker's spreadsheet, or Bloomberg's estimates.

Thank you.

I was using the Jayhawker spreadsheet and it had the "IMsciEafe" at -.69% which has a symbol of EFA. I had that "Cornfused" because of its label with the EFD which is what is actualy listed as a benchmark for I fund share prices (on the same spreadsheet). Like I said, still learning

IMO, just wait for 350z to post the estimates. He is to the T. I am lost without 350z when he is not around.

350, TSPGO and ChemEng:

I also learn from your explanations and comments. I also saw the discrepancy in the figures and hoped to "figure it out" :D at a later date...
Good question and excellent answers!

Question - if Europe and Asia close before the 11:00 ET IFT time limit, then why can't we know what the I fund will close at before 11:00? Just curious, and forgive a newbie if its a dumb question.

But We do know.

Read back 10-20 pages here in this thread and you will see that we post I fund estimates here every morning. I will usually post the final estimate at around 1140 EST. Look in the Technical Anaylsis(TA tools) section and you'll find two good spreadsheets that you can use to calculate the I fund's current gain/losses.

The only time our estimates don't match the I fund price is when there's is a FV involved. But we can also guess very close on the amount of FV, in the afternoon. For more about the FV, read this:

FV is the reason for this. Great estimates on this thread.

I picked a heck of a day to be out TDY. Left home at 5:30 monday morning, and just finished up and checked into the motel at midnight. Didn't see the markets at all today. And looked what I missed. Dang.

Going to flee to more safety now. Too bad it won't take affect until tomorrow's COB. I see a big drop coming- maybe 3 to 4 percent in the next couple days. I hope that is the bottom. Europe is going to bleed tonight.

Thank you! Thank you! I hope you just did a reverse jinx! :D

The sell-off in Japan tonight appears to be just an over reaction. I'm not seeing any confirmation in the Yen. We should get some kind of a bounce tomorrow in Europe and the US market.
